Foraging Competitors and other Mushroom Folklore

I have heard stories in this forum about squirrels and dogs as well as my most personal experience with a beaver and his tail slap-- that we are not the only animals eating psilly's. How could we be so vain?  :cool: Even slugs, maggots....and now worms seem to be tripping. I heard that psilocybin can be detected under a black light, like a Zepplin poster.  :mushroom2: I thought it appropriate, given the pervasiveness of urban myth, general lack of honesty, originality and liveliness content of recent posts, to share with y' all a mini wallpaper sized image.



A story to boot..

I was visiting this local phishing spot and given the optimal growing environment, was dissapointed with the lack of cyanescens which should have been thriving here...plopped my ass down for a toke. Contemplated the meaning of restoration.. I took this pic as I regained my balance.

It wasn't until I got home and ate my one solitary find that things seemed strange. I noticed something off to the left in the image.

Oh My God.. A white tailed mushroom eating badger had staked out the spot and had eaten all the shrooms. I felt lucky to have escaped the ordeal un-skathed. Dood looked like a cop. The blackberries had arleady taken their toll on my legs, but upon reminiscing the would have beens.... I instantly felt gratified knowing what it must have felt like to be in an azure patch with white-eyed budweiser guzzling richeous mulletheads on the prowl. :rolleyes: Vicariously playing with myself. :laugh:

Finish the thread...? With so much room for people to share shroom myth? Like what's up with people getting too high, taking off their clothes and running? I've read countless variations of this story. Is this myth, or a physiological response to excessive psilocybin I wonder.

people who go wacko on psychedelics most likely had a few lug nuts loose before they took them and shouldn't have been doing so. I've "freaked out" before but never while freaking out did I ever say "oh hell I guess I better strip butt naked and run down the interstate".

As far as that goees Borealis, there were three known cases of naked shroomers reported inthe literature.

The most famous was the young Westerner in Oaxaca who ran through the Streets of Huautla totaly naked with a live rooster hanging m form its mouth byt he neck.

The second similar story occurred in Koh Samui in the late 1980s was what actually one of several tourist/shroom incidents which caused the police to report to Thai parliment of the shroom problem in Koh Samui. That report, as well as numerous hospital emergency room treatments for suspected shroom OD (caused by LSD-Laced Omelettes) is why the shrooms were made illegal in Thailand.

A third case occured in an Australian Hospital when a man ran naked downt he hospittal corridors and hallways attempting to molest the nurses who were trying to treat him for his unusual malady.

I've often wanted to take off my clothes while dosing, however I myself cannot see the treasure in outdoor-naked-cops-white tailed badgers-lost in a canyon for three days-excursions. I haven't seen any smurfs either, but I do recall a sort of "santa" looking fellow. Had he been 4 ft. shorter, he could have been a gnome I suppose.

I won't share my vibrating silicone time warp story-- but a friend told me he gave this guy a cyan tripping disclaimer... and he still thought they were cubes and ate half eighth. He was missing in the woods for two days. When he emerged he was cursed with a beard and a new facial tick. Sort of a snorting sneeze thing.

Just when I thought I was entirely insane... and had blamed the lack of shrooms on the PNW wildlife... I was suprised to see a stoney muscrat looking fella' today chomping on the greenest of grass about five feet from our patch. Meadownymph talked to him, he seemed cool-- so we picked while he chomped down on the grass next to us. :cuckoo: I'm sure he was tripping because he did not fear us in the least bit. In fact, he seemed to be entertained with the hail that was pelting our hoodies as we picked. The season is almost over, but I don't mind sharing the wealth with a cat like him. At first I feared him when he looked straight at me with seriously orange bucked teeth, but dood did not have a mean bone in his body. :rastamon:
