Fungicide in cow feed: Truth or Myth? * 1
    #340545 -

Greeting shroom hunters.

Shrooming has still brought me no luck here in central florida. Have done some hunting, and turned up lots of look alikes, but no real shrooms. And by the way, I have no idea how you people shroom hunt at night.. I have a hard enough time finding them during the day..

Anyways, a quick poll. I am sure everyone has heard about farmers putting stuff in the feed or fields to stop fungus growth, but does anyone know if theres any truth to this? I simply cannot belive that farmers would actually spray thier field with fungicide. And even if they did put it in the feed, the cows graze so much that I do not belive it would actually stay in thier systems long enough..

Anyone have any thoughts?

Poll Below

My beleif is that yes, they do. I say this because if you've ever tried to cultivate you'll know that you can only use 'organic' flower in the substrate. To classify as organic and food source can not be exposed to fungacides at all. The point I'm making is if they do it for wheat what's stoppping them doing it for cows? I beleive though, that the farmers just put it in their feed. There are substance and drugs that stay in humans system for ever, I'm sure they can keep fungacide around in cows till next feeding time. Why? They might do it because shroomers are direspecting their fields by leaving rubbish, wrecking fences or scaring the cows. Maybe for some other reason.

DISCLAIMER: This is my own personal beleif derived from what I have read and heard. (you've got to be so careful what you say around here)

By the way, I took liberty of making your poll:

Fungicides used on cows?
Yes, for the sole purpose of stopping shroomers
Not at all, it's a Myth
Yes, but not just to stop shroomers
None of the Above (leave comment)

That is bull shit. I have worked with many farmers who have large farms such ars the PArker Ranch in Hawaii and the Kualoa Ranch on MAui, the King Ranch in Texas. They do not feed any cattle any fungicides at all. IT is a bs myth.

It is my understanding that mainly dairy farmers are the people who use the anti-fungal additive only because it keeps their cows healthier, and healthy cows produce more milk(hence more money for the farmer). Not to keep gatherers and mushroom collectors from doing what they do.

i aggree, if they fed cows fungacide then mushrooms wouldnt even grow on the shit, the shit would not decompose, and it would not provide a useful compost.
large amounts of animal feed are thrown out annually or even seasonally due to fungal infestation, you can see this around silos and feed elevators. basic animal feed tends to be mostly cow-corn. im not familliar with corns usefulness as a psychoactive mushrooms-supporting substrate, i find that the bedding coveyed out of the barn annually for compost is the BEST for mushrooms, expecially after a year or 2. but thats for Pans, not cubes.
farmers themselves dont use fungacide on anything. tho.... the seed-grain puchased by the farmer for agricultural planting is OFTEN fungacided and should NOT be consumed by animals! (and wont grow mush.)

madness never slows down, it only piles up.
