Can someone please help me remove this shit

Off of my computer. Please please please, spydoctor found it but cant get rid of it and I need it gone its dangerous:

WebSearch
Tool name: Registry Scanner
Infection location: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WINTOOLSSVC
Infection type: Registry
Infection risk level: Dangerous
Infection description: WebSearch is a Browser Helper Object which appears on several lists of programs identified as spyware, but we have been unable to find a description of its specific behavior.  Unless you installed this for a purpose, remove it.



I dont know how, its fucking everything up I know it. Please help  :confused:

I would print out that infected filepath-name..

Then start the computer in safe-mode... [Simply keep hitting F8 after you select re-start]

And you'll have the option of choosing to start in safemode, and safemode with networking.. But I doubt you need the latter, so go with the former.

After windows is up and running, open up the registry, locate the filepath, and DELETE "LEGACY_WINTOOLSSVC"..

And empty the recycle bin...

And hopefully, voila.

I'm sure there will be other people who have much more expertise than I do, so maybe you ought to wait until you get a bunch of good responses to see what the overall best action to take would be.

ok I was in the registry editor (thats wheres im supposed to be yes?) and the problem is like I dont know where to even look for it, theres countless folders and none of them have anything to do with LEGACY_WINTOOLSSVC or am i blind.

man just use the classics: spybot +ad-aware and you'll be fine.
dont use IE.

since you know how to get into regedit then we will start there. alright go in there and click the folder hot key local machine, then system then currentcontrolset then click enum then click root and it should be in this folder.

norton anti-virus does the trick for me. ad aware and spy bot are both on my comp. too.

spydoctor sounds like one of those many fake spyware programs that can actually put spyware and shit on your computer...

like bio said.. stick to spybot and adaware.. cwshredder.. hijackthis! if nothing works.

Yes, I would definetely recommend Adaware. However, If you don't want to use it, you can delete the problem at its source by follwing these instructions:

1. Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
Navigate to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\

2. Right click on the folder next to LEGACY_WINTOOLSSVC, and select delete.

3. This will remove the problem.

I am not responisble for you fucking up your computer, so make sure you get the right one.

Well if you can follow a file path try this.

http://www.adwarespy.com/

install it,run it and kiss the next two hours goodbye unless you buy it.
It will tell you where EVERY bit of spyware and EVERY virus registry entry is but unless you buy it you have to remove them one at a time by hand in search for files or folders and in regedit.

run it even if you consider yourself clean I use spy bot and ad aware and I still found 250+ more with this.

Post how many you found and keep this thread running so people can find it.
