Need help with VCD ISO
    #3359486 - 11/14/04 01:06 PM (13 years, 7 days ago)

I have a VCD ISO, I think because when i right click on it it says the type of file is a nero disk image. So I tried to burn it too a cd so I can watch it on my dvd player, it plays (S)VCDs. But it doesn't work. When I looked what was on the CD it had a few folders and one had a .dat file in it. Anyone know what im doing wrong?

Sounds like a VCD iso - you *should* just be able to burn the image using Nero and it *should* play in a standalone.
The assumption is the image was actually from a VCD compliant disc - a standard CD-ROM iso is `format mode 1` in Nero and a VCD is 'format mode 2/XA. If it's not 2/XA format then your stanalone won't recognize it.

Failing that download/warez a copy of Alcohol 120 - it has burning settings expecially for VCD isos.

Hope this makes sense!
Allan.

I couldn't find any options in alcohol 120 to change it too 2/XA.

Yes - if it's 2/XA it'll be OK in a standalone.

In Alcohol's image burning section, there should be a dropdown menu, once you've selected the image you're burning from - there should be an option that says VCD amoung all the copy protected formats like safedisc, securom etc.

Or... Quick thing to try:
Copy the .dat file to your hard disc, rename it as .mpg and use it as your mpeg source to prepare the VCD from scratch in nero.

If that doesn't work then you'll have to extract the mpeg using isobuster before using it in nero.
