Burning .iso image files or video_ts folder to play on standalone DVD player
    #5763708 - 06/18/06 09:17 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I've been having trouble burning DVDs for about a week now, and was going to see if anyone here maybe had some insight on what is going wrong. I have a couple of .iso files, both containing different movies. These are what I've been trying to burn. All of the burns work on my computer, but not on my standalone player.

I've tried several different brands of software: Nero, Roxio, RecordNow, DVD Decrypter, the burn feature on PowerIso, and Alcohol 120. None of the .iso/image file burning options on all of these programs didn't work. Since nothing worked, I assumed it was a problem with the two standalone players I have. That is until I tried this:

Roxio Easy Media Home has a DVD Builder area where you can put in video files (.mpg, .avi, etc.) and somehow it authors and burns the DVD using these media files. This method creates DVDs that work on my standalone. This is nice and all, but the quality on many of these .mpgs blows, especially when burned and played on my TV. I want to be able to burn .iso files, so i can have the actual dvd quality movie work on my standalone. I don't want quality that is worse then VHS tapes.

When burning the .iso image files didn't work, I did quite a bit of research on simply burning the video_ts folder and its contents to a DVD. I've tried everything with different media types (maxell, memorex, sony, verbatim). Some suggested checking for firmware updates for my burner, I tried this but couldn't find any updates.

The reason I don't believe it's firmware, media type, or my burner is the DVD created from .mpg files in Roxio DVD Builder worked fine on my standalone.

Can someone please offer some help with burning .iso image files or the video_ts folder inside these .iso files? I am desperate for help. If you need more info, a nero burn log, or anything to help just ask and I'll do what I can. If you want to IM me and help in realtime, thats fine too (just PM me). Thanks ahead of time.

I'm trying that now. At this point I think it could be the DVD players and if it comes down to it I'm going to bring a burned disk to a store and buy a dvd player that plays the burns I can make. What doesn't make since is the burn worked on my standalones with Roxio DVD Builder and .mpg files but not with .iso.

:farmerdance: It worked!  It had to have been the iso because this time it worked when I created and burned the iso with clone dvd.  Thank you for your advice!
