Does anyone else feel like going to India (or whatever warm, beautiful 'not mainstream' country) and living in a self-subsistence economy away from all this shit?

I am moving to Alaska in April..hopefully it will be a breath of fresh air from this three ring circus.. what would I miss? probabaly the easy availability of whatever kind of produce and meat I care to eat at any given day of the year.

well most of the good countrys already have anti drug laws
it would be cool to buy a tropical island
although i wish there were islands that had oak forests on them

I'm worried about monotonous diet too, but I guess some of us enjoy gardening and growing things so that shouldn't be a problem if the climate is right.

If You're thinking about a tropical island, I'd suggest Oceania, Kiribati or French Polynesia or something.

vancouver island has oak forests.  its got rainforest as well. :smile:  well its got more cut oak and rainforest but it still has it.

id want to go down to south america and live there.  thats my idea of heaven (but not in the coca areas...).  indonesia would eb pretty cool too.  but the deforestation tehre would get pretty depressing.

Alaska is beautiful but if you are moving there to get away from the neocons, think again; it's one of the most conservative states in the union.

I know that Alaska is a dominantly "conservative" state, but the way it differs from others (or so I hear) is the way people view individual rights in Alaska, as being of an extreme importance...anyways anything has to be better than Iowa!
