mycobag dispute: grow in bags, or case?
    #3292595 -

I injected my five 1.2lb mycobags earlier today. The plan was to do them all the same strain and have one large casing with all five 1.2lb bags in the casing, with 50/50 coir/verm. In the chat people were advising against this, and suggested to grow and fruit in the bag instead. Said that casing the mycobags wouldn't yield much more than if they fruited in the bags alone, and it opens up to the contam world. Is this true, about the yields? I wanted to do a casing because I've also read that growing in the bags doesn't yield anything compared to a casing.

It is my first grow. I bought the bags before I invest in a PC incase it's not for me. What should I do with the bags? One large casing is out now, as 3 bags are one strain and two are another. I do like the bag simplicity, but I dont want to suffer a massive loss in fruits.

So, should they be cased or fruited in the bags? one casing per 1.2lb bag? how much of a difference will i see between the two methods? what do you all think, agree with the bad-casing-theory?

mahalo

If it is your first grow, do it in the bag. Less to fuck up that way, and the yield's comprable to a casing.

Fiddlesticks.

when ready, case in the bag
if all goes well you will have very good yields

You won't "suffer a massive loss in fruits" if you don't case. However casing does increase water availability for your mushies to grow. With 1.2 lbs of colonized substrate, the yeild will be good either way.

does growing them in the bag harm or somehow mess up the growth of the mushrooms or no? wouldn't they run into the plastic or something?

they push their way around the plastic ( usually ), they kinda find their way like a seed pushes its way to the surface.

What size bags are those? Did you just use your mix (say 50.50 verm.coir) on the top of the bags and place in a container, or does the container contain a lower layer that the bags are sitting on?

Those are simply substrate cased in the bag as I stated. The chambers are perlite/coolmist humidified units.
