Oak chips straight from the tree, clean enough?

Got a bag of oak shavings from the center of a 300 year old oak tree could i consider it to be clean enough? i mean could i innoc and seal it rightaway.

i want to grow Shii-Take on it

For me it looks ok.
If you sterilize it properly I cannot see a reason why it should not work.

but damage is done. ive dried fallen oaks in bags and they dont mould much.

Well i didn't cut it down.... The Tree weights about 12,500 kilograms. They are building a 17th century warship made for 90% out of oak and the oak sawdust/shavings is my only source on hard wood here. The Trees come from Danmark there is a spot where they planted the trees for wooden ships 300-400 years ago but since most ships aren't build much anymore from wood they where kinda forgotten and got somewhat bigger. The ground around is a bit soft most of the years and some tree have gotten so big that they fall down like this one (it not rot)

neat story. that tree already looks like it has fungus in it (spalted). i dunno what that could do to mushroom cult. but when i dry spalted wood i make sure there is ventalation cause when the fungus dies it always moulds.

maybe its just dirty i dunno. but dead tree and the looks of that one spells spalt to me.

The tree is 3-4 feet in diameter the white stuff on the outside is only the alive part around the centerwood. I sealed some i a filterbag and am incubating it, to see what living on it.

I will Try Takehama Shii-Take on it next week but then PC'ed for 3 hours
