Eraserhead. I think if I watched that while tripping, I would go permanently crazy. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074486/

No man. I first saw it at the theatre in December of 1974. There were like 15 people in the audience as it had not yet become a "cult classic"lol!. To clear up any confusion: I turned 50 chronological years old on August the 10th of this year

I think david lynch is a fluke.
his films are mostly non-sensical, except possibly to him.
I think people give him props just because they are afraid to admit that they don't get it.

If you want to watch a really disturbing film, watch Irreversible.
afoaf, he had to cut a lot of his films down considerably so that they would even make the theaters. Blue Velvet was originally filmed at 4 hours long and he had to cut it down to near 2. The same story for mulholland dr, fire walk with me, dune, etc...

Agreed. I think the mentality with most people is "wow that movie was so confusing, I didn't get it. It must be smart!"
I enjoy his movies, but he puts in too much garbage specifically designed to make the viewer ask "whats going on?" which I feel hurts the story more often then not. If he wants to make a complicated movie, fine, but adding in a bunch of red herrings doesn't help a movie.

They aren't supposed to have any sort of logical narrative. You're not supposed to understand it.
I thought Lost Highway was enjoyable. Mulholland Drive was practically unwatchable. I don't think I've seen any of his other films.

I didn't mind Lost Highway, but Mulholland Dr. was ridiculous.

The only cool thing about Mulholland Drive is that the actress was from Deep River, Ontario, which is the tiny little town my cousins live in. I was like, "wtf?".
