Ultrasonic vs. Coolmist

A couple days ago I bought a cool mist humidifier, I took it home, set it up and finaly noticed that on a small sticker it says "evaporative". I heard that you can't use one if it says "evaporative" on it. I guess it does matter because it would not work. In fact it lowered the humidity instead of raising it. I found a ultrasonic humidifier for a good price and I was wondering if they work well. Any feedback would be helpfull.

i use a ultrasonic hummer in my setup, but ive found you also need to be running a cool mist 24/7. ive had trouble getting the work without the support of one another. right now i run the ush for 10m every 2 hrs, this boosts the rh to the right level, and the coolmist runs 24/7 to sustain that. its also nice for air exchange.

your right the evaporative ones dont work, they can run out of water and become a fire hazard. and as u have found out yourself, they dont really work to well for keeping the rh in the 90's.

i also use a difuser type thing for the humidifiers just to take some of the bluky water particles out of the air, without it the casings seem to get too wet while the ush is running, even when i have it on its lowest setting. i just connected the 2 hummers with garden hoses to a 20 oz bottle that is capped and has a bunch of small holes in it. this seems to work, but the bottle fills up with water sometimes no big deal except im too lazy to dump it out all the time.
