i was wondering if it is normal for pin heads to turn black as they grow. is this normal???

for aborts, yes. If the tip turns black and stays pin-sized, it is an abort.

if they are true BLACk pick them- they have aborted and will soon rot- BUT make sure they have stopped growing, ive seen pins with VERY DARK (but not black) caps grow to full size....

DONT take a trip to the spore lab...

Make sure they aren't moist-black, as this can be bacterial blotch. You'll know. They don't just look black, the caps/heads look disgusting; slick, wet -- damn I hate that stuff. I think we should lynch all bacterial blotch.
