Fla. man sentenced on drug charges

MIAMI -- A man freed after serving 12 years for a murder he did not commit was sent back to prison on drug charges Wednesday by a judge who told him: "You threw away your chance at freedom and liberty."

Timothy Brown, 28, was sentenced to nearly six years for selling crack to undercover agents just months after his conviction was erased in the 1990 shooting death of Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Patrick Behan.

"What I ask this court to do is to help me get my life back on track," Brown told Judge Cecilia Altonaga.

Brown, who has an IQ of 56, was cleared last year in Behan's shooting death after lawyers argued Brown falsely confessed under physical and psychological pressure from detectives.

The judge said Brown, though "the victim of justice gone awry" in the slaying, was a "willful participant in the world of crack cocaine," and chided him for "frankly such outright stupidity, brazenness and total disregard of the law."

lessee...
12 years in the slammer... aged 28 now... so 16 years old when sent away to the joint...
gee, i wonder where he learned such anti-social behavior patterns...
most folk w/IQ <60 are in institutions (& i don't mean prisons...)
