Comedian Chong Sentenced on Drug Charges

PITTSBURGH - Tommy Chong (news), who played one half of the dope-smoking duo in the Cheech and Chong movies, was sentenced to nine months in federal prison and fined $20,000 Thursday for selling bongs and other drug paraphernalia over the Internet.

The 65-year-old was allowed to remain free until federal prison officials tell him in a few weeks where he must report to prison.
Chong also forfeited about $100,000 for his arrest on federal drug paraphernalia charges. He'll spend a year on probation after he's released from prison.
His Nice Dreams Enterprises, which made a line of marijuana bongs and pipes, was to be sentenced later Thursday. Under federal law, the business itself can be placed on probation or face other sanctions.
Chong pleaded guilty in May to conspiring to sell drug paraphernalia and pleaded guilty on behalf of Nice Dreams Enterprises, which did business under the name Chong Glass.
The actor's plea came after federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents bought his paraphernalia and had the items shipped to an undercover business in Beaver Falls, northwest of Pittsburgh. Agents also confiscated his company's paraphernalia during raids of "head shops" in several states and confiscated "thousands of marijuana bongs and pipes" in a raid of his Gardena, Calif., business.
His plea followed a series of DEA raids in February in which at least 55 people were charged with trafficking in illegal drug paraphernalia. Federal officials said the investigation targeted the nation's biggest Internet distributors of paraphernalia.
Prosecutors said Chong was the first person to plead guilty in the raids.
Chong and Cheech Marin (news) co-starred in several films in the late 1970s and early '80s, including "Nice Dreams" and "Up In Smoke." Chong recently had a recurring role on Fox's "That '70s Show."

Children starving in the streets, but at least the honest, hardworking, small business owners wont be selling 100% legal glassware. (Like a gun, a bong isn't illegal until it is used for something illegal...)
Is Canada accepting applications for citizenship?  They may talk funny up there, but at least they haven't gone Nazi on their own citizens or the rest of the world for that matter. Oh wait, I already moved out of the US after getting pissed at the current administration... never mind.

I think Mr. DEA just wanted to prove that nobody can escape the grasp of the American drug laws, not even celebrities.

It is so sad that a man can have his life broken to pieces so easily for such a petty cause 
I am going to start writing more letters to my congress/wo/men about this. It has to stop or I will leave. Maybe it's the pot I just vaped, but the US is becoming a scary place to live. I wonder if those terrorists everyone is talkin' about will inadvertantly reach their goal of destroying the US by us destroying ourselves first

Wow, it's actually illegal to sell bongs in the US? I don't know why you wouldn't just market them "For use with tobacco only" or the like. Seems that would make them perfectly legal, would it not?

man this is fucking bullshit , and its also the last fucking straw for me. can anyone recommend the best place in canada to live that has GREAT access to good weed and very little bitching ass cop drama bullshit? any suggestions at all? i think im gonna start a new post and ask the same question .

What about people that really do smoke tobacco out of bongs or pipes? My uncle smokes a pipe occasionally. Id like to see the DEA arrest an old man for possesion of drug paraphenlia. er nm, thats what this thread is about.
