Shrooms + Yohimbe (as an MAO-i)..? Effective alternative.?

I did search the archives for this, and could not find anything.... In the "Psychedelics Encyclopedia" - Peter Stafford it states that Yohimbe is an MAO-i.... I used to use it regularly back about 8 or so years ago for the effects that Yohimbe is noted for - with great results....

After reading about how MAO-i's like B.Cappi or Syrian Rue increase the potency and effects of shrooms, it got me wondering....

Would Yohimbe be an effective MAO-i as a potentiator for shrooms...? With all of the strong purging/nausiating effects of the other named MAO-i's, it seems "logical" to me that Yohimbe would (could) be an alternative of choice....?!? But it also seems like if it was effective, people would be raving about it as a good substitute to "purging at both ends simotainiously"(sp), plus the additional added effects of Yohimbe...!

haven't you taken shrooms while you took yohimbe, back in time?
personally, i would guess it would have little action.

well, "something" will happen with the combination...
and it may be more than merely "additive" effects (1+1=2), but may be mutiplicative(1+1=3) or synergistic/synergetic(1+1=4)...
however...
jonathan ott ran some experiments which attempted to use yohimbine as the MAOi activator for oral ingestion of DMT, and even with yohimbine HCl doses of 100 mg (!?!?---you could hammer nails with that tool then matey!) standard oral doses of DMT (which worked just fine when using harmine or moclobemide as the MAOi) did not manifest the expected/hoped-for entheogenic response (as an "ayahuasca/pharmahuasca analog")...

(note: i can't even imagine taking 100 mg yohimbine HCl --- yikes!)

(but as an addition for a psychedelic/aphrodesiac evening of extended lovemaking bouts, it sound like a possibility :wink: ...)
(but if using the bark for tea, maybe start with like 3-5 gm/person...
& with pure yohimbine, or corynanthine, powders, keep doses under 10-15 mg to start...
until you know how this stuff does you (& your partner, heh...)
(this stuff can play games with your b.p. & a severe hypotensive crisis can be quite as dangerous as a severe hypertensive crisis, mmmmmkay?)

Felix, no, unfortunately I didn't discover the fungi-fun till I was thirty something.... I wish I had, I would know so much more about myself, and the partner I had at the time would have done them with me.... Shroomz~ seem to put me in a very erotic place towards the end of a trip, but alas - since I have discovered this new ally, I am single.... =(

GNRM23, Ott took 100mg..!!!??? Damn, back when I had a Gf, I was taking TwinLab brand from GNC called "Yohimbe Stack".... It has 225mg Yohimbe bark extract (standardized for 4.5mg Yohimbine Alkaloids).... With that small of an amount (compaired to 100mg hcl - however that converts) I could have hammered nails....! I do agree with the starting off in lower doses, it does have a speedy effect to it, and everybody has different body chemistry....
