Toxicman is going to have a field day with these...

Did you use photoshop? Something seems strange about that photo.

Hey Shirly,

Its gonna be hard to ID those just by physical apperance. Remember that we would need more information on each mushroom to make a better ID.

Obviously you want to know actual names of mushrooms, however I can tell you off the bat, that it does not look like you have anything of use. :frown: No edibles or actives.

See if someone can ID them by just physical details.

Gumby, number 15 seems like a Boletus Badius.

I have a Edible hunting book here beside me, called Complete mushroom book, the queit hunt.

Hmm........... a closer look leads me to think 15 is eaither "the sickener" (russula Emetica) or a Boletus Badius.

The stem is what throws me off, but I know white animita stems can look a little yellow after awhile so I wouldnt doubt that the sickener could do the same.

Is it a bright red shirley????

You should probably throw #14 out. It looks like the definitive answer to the question: Does a bear shit in the woods.

I'm only going to guess to genus on any of those. You should provide habitat, because it makes a big difference if they were growing on the ground, on wood, on dung, etc.

1. Agaricus
2. Panaeolus (habitat?)
3. Marasmius
4. Lycoperdon
5. Inocybe
6. Mycena
7. Mycena
8. Stropharia (need to see the gills)
9. Marasmius (...gills)
10. Cortinarius (...gills)
11. Marasmius
12. Cortinarius (I can't see any details at all on that one!)
13. Entoloma (Are those gills truly pink or becoming pink?)
Psathyrella (if gills are turning brown or purple brown)
14. Daldinia (assuming a wood-like texture)
15. Boletus
16. Marasmius (...gills)
17. Inocybe (blah blah gills...)
18. Collybia

Happy mushrooming!

#8 is definitely NOT armillaria mellea. If your boletus of #14 grows in your area right now, it's just still a tad too early for honey mushrooms. Also the appearance of your mushroom doesn't match with armillaria mellea or closely related species.
#14 is growing all over the place here as well. It could be boletus badius, although I doubt it really is. It might be boletus rubellus; this species matches my finds (which resemble your #14 remarkably well) better than boletus badius does.

Nice finds, keep em coming!

Ohyeah: I remember you from last year when I was active in the growing-regions of the Shroomery. You rock!

so what is #8 then? i ate a bunch of those last year on a proper hunt, and the spotter guy was sure they were honey mushroom. i attributed our post-eating diarrhoea to short-cooking, what was the real identity of those then?

hey koraks, i remember you too. you just got outta the army along with hamurabi, and you did the dark-growing-measuring thread, right? shirley remembers her preciousssses.....

For a better ID of #8 we need to see the underside of the cap to see the gills and any potential ring on the stem, and we need to know about the spore print color and habitat.

Here are a couple photos of some Armillaria ostoyae specimens a friend gave to me today:

Note the rings on the stems, the slightly decurrent gills, and the tiny hairs (they look more like little brown scales in the photos) on the caps. These specimens have all the classic features of the genus Armillaria, but they are a little smaller than the average ones I find.

Happy mushrooming!
