The Exorcist: The Beginning
    #3031747 - 08/21/04 06:34 AM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Alright, i broke down and saw it last night on opening night and he's my official report.

As a huge horror movie person the bar for this movie i set pretty low. I mean if you look around at anything that's come out in the past 5 years from the dozens of cheap slasher films you'll barely hear about to the occasional gore-fest of movies such as House of a Thousand Corpses, that was far more disturbing than simply pure horror, which in essence, could be the same thing, you chouldn' really expect too much.

Other than the original Exorcist being what it is, a perfect blend of gore and mindfuck to make you wonder just how good they could make the Prequel.

Well, the movie started out with a great deal of potential. The opening scene is set in 5AD with a priest standing in an endless field of seemingly millions of dead soldiers. The scenes are believable and definitely have a freaky element to them.

Next is focuses on the main character throughout the movie, which is the priest we all know, Father Merian, from the original. As an architect he goes to a dig site in the 1940's in Africa, where the brits, who have hired the help of the superstitious Chicano tribe are digging up a mysterious well preserved "church" from 1500 years prior.

The movie had potential and didn't do bad at upholding it at all, if you dis count some of the dragged out scenes and cheap shots ( screamed about 3 times due to the fake outs when they simply use loud noises to make you jump 3 feet out of your seat)

The scenes and inclusion of the african tribe were really neat, and it gave the movie a very "real" feel. The shots of the desert were also really good, overall cinematogrophy outstanding. As for being a scary movie, yes, it gave me a good scare and about met my expectations, not exceeding them to any wild number but i would definitely recommend go seeing it.

The ending of the movie was well fitting and had an unusual twist, which came out of left field.

Hopefully this will be helpful for you..

I just saw it 6 hours ago
The movie is pretty good. It did have alot of load noises.
3 times i noticed faces faded into the background wich was kind of kool that
i bet alot of people dont notice. The movie had everything, Gore, Nazi's, Partial
titties. Some funny scenes where the possesed ..... shit i was about to give the
movie away. Just say i liked the possesed dry hump for those who have seen it.
Great movies over all
Cya.
