Sigur Ros
    #3028444 -

I'd been meaning to check them out for a while, and my girlfriend has the album where the singer invented his own language, and none of the tracks have names, and none of the words are comprehensible because it's just this beautiful singing language he's created..heard bits and pieces at her house.

Well yesterday afternoon I took three huge bong rips in succession, put the CD in my discman and walked to my favorite bench in my favorite park, and just watched life go by to the tune of Sigur Ros.

This rivalled any psychedelic experience I've had, on any drug, or not on a drug, or at a concert, or anything...

Give it a listen!

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Defintely great stuff. Perfect to listen to when you're fading away to sleep, as well as peaceful moments like those.

Interestingly, my friends went to a Sigur Ros concert, and there was some jackass there shouting & cheering during the concert. Everyone around him was yelling for him to shut up, but he couldn't take a hint. There are some concerts where it's better just to silence yourself and take in the experience.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.
