OMG!! One of the best acid trips I ever had was watching Naked Lunch!!
I bought a double off a guy downtown and took it on my way to the video store. The only kind of "trippy" movie I could find was Naked Lunch, so I went home and as soon as I felt the onset of the cid I started the movie...
Well, it was like being taken to another world. The "black meat" and seeing those fucking giant caterpillars hanging in the marketplace... the typewriter that spewed out the hallucinogenic goo...
Needless to say I watched the movie twice in a row, and each time I saw something different. It was AWESOME!

are you aware of the fact that it's based on a book? and that book was written while the author (William Burroughs?) was tripped out in Sri Lanka or something. he disappeared for months, then his publisher started receiving pieces of the story. it was how he perceived the world during his tripping binge. everything you see in the movie is a representation of what he saw while tripping!
Ps - this is also the method i used when i wrote a journal about my trip to the 14th Cup awards.

Who hasen't. And if you like his more twisted shorts then i suggest finding his short named "Rabbits". I would say maybe Lynch and Kubrick are my favorite directors that i can recall now.

I haven't nearly seen all of his movies, but I think Blue Velvet is my favorite. But Lost Highway, Eraserhead, and Mulholland Dr were also really really good. A friend recommended Twin Peaks to me highly, but I haven't been able to find it over here. So I'm going to check it out when I go to US, I hear it's even better than his movies!

Lynch rules.
Twin peaks is the fucking shit dude. It's out on DVD so I'm sure you can order it online. After you watch every single episode of twin peaks, then you're going to want to watch fire walk with me. ohh damn, fire walk with me is a good movie.

I don't like Lynch. I've only seen Lost highway and Muholand drive, normaly I would dig movies like that but something about them just didn't appeal to me.
I have to admit I almost put Lynch and his movie's on my boycott list. but I'll give him another chance someday, maybe with Naked Lunch.

Tangiers not Sri Lanka. He just lock himself away in his apartment and was fucked up for awhile. And Naked Lunch the movie (which sucked) wasnt David Lynch.
I have the short films of David Lynch - mostly stuff he did in college and inbetween films. If anyone wants a dvd-r copy, pm me.

oh crap.. i did it again!
i always mess that up,thanks for the correction guys. Cronenberg, yes.. i've got it now. ..and Tangiers. got it.
i never got to read the book.. i think i'll go check eBay. i figured the movie wasn't a very good representation of the book. i'm extremely interested in it, for the reason i mentioned earlier.. i used a journal to document my time spent going to, being at, and coming back from the 14th Cannabis Cup. and let me tell you, i enjoy reading it.. heck i've read it several times and i get a kick out of it each time.
but thanks again for getting me on track.

My favorite is Wild at Heart. Such a great movie.
David Lynch did not direct Naked Lunch, guys. That was David Cronenburg.
I think his films are taken directly from the world where our dreams come from. He is a genius!
And he and I share a birthday.

Actually the film is based on Burrough's life, the book is a different story. What an amazing man, though! And a very interesting life!

Yes, exactly, just like a dream. Eraserhead is a true 'horror' movie IMO. Pure existential horror...awesome. I read somewhere that David Lynch meditates for something like 3 hours a day.

Ewww! I made the mistake of watching that before a trip. I couldn't get the images out of my head when I was comming down. It made what would have been a pure spiritual trip into something really weird.
But David Lynch...I can dig him. You can't really watch his movies for recreation though because it takes at least 2 days to figure it out. I like how he portrays dreams and the human subconscious. However I had to leave after 30 mins of Eraserhead. That movie was so fucked up it was not worth watching. There are so many better things to do with your time.

Eraserhead is definitely the one that "gets" people the most. Mullholland Drive and Wild at Heart are good films. Blue Velvet is made great by an awesome performance by Dennis Hopper.
Eraserhead though, it's a nightmare. The dancing lady in the radiator! HOLY FUCK!! When I first saw that my blood literally felt like it went cold.
