The Harmony playground is on a lake with giant oak elders providing shade and shelter for the whole campground. It is surrounded by farmland hence the name "Harvest", which has been a tradition for years. Expect Fire rituals, Free healing arts center, Sheet dancing, Native American traditional drumming and chanting, A marching band, Alice in wonderland tea party, Parades, Spiral dancing, Labrinth work shop, Naked tent, 3D black light painting station...and... on... and... on.

The area is amazing. Such a friendly place I adore those woods the camp ground is in.
I guess I'm checking out new bands that weekend because Leftover Salmon is the only one I really like that I reconise, I'm not huge on the Big Wu but they are fun. GOt lucky and got on the volunteer crew, I think I was the last one they are taking. I get a free ticket and invite to the pre-show part on Thursday. I get the entire festival off and have to help clean up on Sunday, which is perfect because I would rather not have to work the gates or something during the shows.

That is so great. How did you find out about volunteering? I would love to volunteer for stuff like that. Esp. in exchange for free tickets.

Dreamtheater is opening for them.
Best available tickets were $61.50 (ouch!) when I bought them. They had lower priced ones too though. And then there is a good old-fasion Ticketmaster raping for another $10.65 (aarghh!) and a building fee of $3.50 (ehh...). So about $75 all said and done. But I'll probably never get the chance to see them again, much less at Red Rocks, so it's all worth it, IMO.

They are playing at the Target Center in Minneapolis a few days before.... On Tuesday the 7th, I think. A bunch of friends of mine are going to that show and tickets are a little less expensive .

Damn, I just got a new job and won't be able to get work off for something like that. I am going to have a hard time making the pre-party Thursday night but I think I can come up with a good excuse to get one day off.
I screwed off to much this summer, there won't be many shows in my future for sometime.

I've been real lucky this summer. I have a job which pays decent and is very open about letting people take time off. I've been able to afford more tickets this summer than I ever had before and I am taking advantage of that. My only small regret is that with all the money I've spent on concert tickets I could have put down a fat payment on a ring for that special lady in my life. But she hasn't complained about Bonnaroo, Dead, Phish, Yes, Little Feat, Umphrey's, RAGBRAI or anything else we've done :-)
BTW- Umphey's is going to be playing in downtown Des Moines this weekend.

Really? I am so there man, I just got to find someone to talk into going with me, I need a ride.
I did alot this summer too but I quit my old job and killed my savings account, made it to 25 states, did alot of back packing. Seen the Dead 5 times, Allmans, Bonnaroo, I wish I would of seen a wider variety of bands but I can't complain. What a summer!

Tickets are $15 adv / $20 door. The Big Wu is playing the following night but I'm not sure if I'm gonna go to that. There is a pass available if you want to go to both shows though.
edit: I don't think it will sell out. There is quite a bit of room down there.
