hehe how cute. bolivian torch.. Do you mean, Peruvian Torch? Trichocereus peruvianus? Those long spines remind me of a Trich Bridgesii.. thats what I think it is.. Very nice cacti you got there.. One could cut out the core, cut out the spines, dry and powder, then make a beverage with the powder.. or you could run it through a juicer.. That looks like some potent cacti you got there so be carefull.

you gotta talk sweet to it FelixH, Give it little kisses

Does anyone else notice, that amoung all the trichocereus cacti that Peruvian torch hurts signifcantly worse when you stick yourself? When I get poked by a pedro (har har.. not fucked, but poked) it only hurts for a short period while the peruvianus tend to hurt for at least 3 days afterwards.. I get stabbed pretty hard because i'm out harvesting them nearly once a month. Its almost like the PTorches carry some sort of poison in them...

hahaha
they're too spiny for kissing pal... =P

on the needles... indeed, peruvianus and spachianus are the worst needles... i don't think it's poison, i believe it's just microscopic 'splinters' that hurt...

is there a way to visually estimate the potency? i blended about three to four feet of very thin bridgesii and WOW. the only problem now is that we ATE IT ALL now gotta wait a few years for the pups to grow...but there are many  any pointers on optimal growth conditions?

It looks a lot like a bridgesii but I certainly couldn't say for sure. Best thing to do is let them root and plant them. You might have enough for a decent but not heavy trip from the one center cut and root the other two. I'd plant them all but that's just me.

Another thing it could be is long spined peruvianus. I think pereskiopsis spines are the worst because they come off and stay in you. The others will just pull back out. My peres garden is building up slowly.
