dying isnt that big a deal yes murder and hurting other people is objectively bad but dying itself people make too big a deal of in general i think.

Apart from the infinite number of time you have and will be reincarnated, what brushes with death have you had in this life that made you conclude dying isn't a big deal?

While Josef Klehr prepares an intracardial phenol injection for the abspritzen of the lady the US Gov't failed to kill, under watchful eye of spirit_shadow, please tell us about your brushes with death that led you to that point of view.

I have had several times I got close to death, a massive heart attack, an MDPV overdose come to mind most vividly, and the one thing that popped out to me in the ICU and on my kitchen floor was that I would do ANYTHING to survive.

Per Omnicyclion I know death objectively is but a transition point and an important safety feature of life but on the spot, with the heart monitor wailing, I had none such objectivity whatsoever and I would've sucked a turd out of the Devil's ass if thats what it took to not have me die :wetself:

What's your story? Serious topic, serious question, all kidding aside.

I'm not particularly against execution for heinous crimes that were committed beyond all doubt by the person, but botched injection executions where something goes wrong appear a bit too common for it not to be a cruel and unusual type of punishment versus other methods.

Legal systems are too corrupt to trust any determination of guilt of a person. Even if the system is good, people are too fallible. The death penalty always carries a risk of innocents getting killed, and it's happened that DNA has exonerated people that were already executed.

Also, the death penalty is more expensive due to the appeals needed. The only way to stop that is to get rid of the appeals, and then innocents really would start dying of it.

I care about your opinions specifically. I just disagree with this particular one. Everyone else I want to make stretch.

I was in NOLA in 2012 for New Years Eve and I was hung over as fuck and i had got alcohol poisoning and shit myself the night before. I started feeling numbness in my fingers and it began to spread up my arms and my chest, then it felt really tight and like someone was squeezing a rag in my chest. My friend had to pull over because I was freaking out and asking him to call an ambulance I knew I was having a heart attack. It was my first panic attack and it was a full on lizard physiological and psychosematic 15 min where i hyperventilated and lost consciousness. The paramedics had to come and give me oxygen. I know it isn't that crazy or scary, but I was scared and I genuinely thought I was going to die.

I've been considering death a lot lately, and I've come to the conclusion that my views on this world are too materialistic. I believe we place too much importance on the individual and although that is reality and we are all indivduals and all have things that make us singular and unique, we are all the same. alot of times experiencing reality without any preconcieved notions and seeing things styructurally has changed the way i think about life and how transient states are. People often fail to realize that things aren't as mutually exclusive as they seem on a daily basis. You can hold one thing in each hand and weigh them equally. In the end only you can decide the way you're going to see the world and live. Everything is constituent and it's all semiotic. Every base part is representative of its own cosm, and each structure then in turn becomes it's own building block...

Sure I'm scared of dying, but it's instinctual. In my ego I am not scared, but when I imagine it happening, I actualize it in such a way that it feels like it's actually happening and I've been doing that for years; I don't know what you would call it and I don't have a word for it. But I know that nothing can prepare me for it; this life is fleeting, we are all part of a greater expanse and network of particles and the structure of the universe and physical laws and how particles and especially quanta behave I believe in nothing to an extent but I'm not a nihilist. Maybe an optimistic nihilist but I don't classify myself with that exactly. Dying is part of the natural order and lends importance to life, without an end the thing would lose meaning and is no longer semiotic. I have been thinking more that raw reality exists more in the contrast between states than any particular moment. And I don't have a linear of traditional view of time either.

I like to think about the 4th dimension sometimes and what it would look like and all I can really come up with is that we get to experience some sort of free objectivity when the physical body dies, and that life, your life, is crystalliized in time as a closed loop, which we may even be able to interact with. Maybe we experience what some people have experienced on sacramental DMT doses, or recieved communications as I have. Something that was external and intentional. Maybe it's just absence, or maybe we  just drift freely and feel surrounded by warm water and have a feeling of safety and security, then  youre born.

I'm not scared of death.  I fear what has died within me while I am still alive.

We may get a sense of what has died within you when we read your thoughts.
