I better show you how the Lemonade is made!
    #25387021 -

With last month's heatwave of 30+'C/ 90+'F I had a good opportunity to give my zero calorie/bubbles/acidity Minty Lemonade "L#3" a good field test.

The objective was to give ordinary water a flavor that does not have the unhealthy sugar, acids and bubbles of softdrinks that are so incredibly detrimental to ones health, teeth and metabolism in particular.

In Suriname, South America, its customary to buy a bottle of essence, add 10ml to a liter of water along with 100 grams of sugar and presto, homemade lemonade.
There I got inspiration.

Its a collossal ripoff. The essences present in the carrier could easily be concentrated 10x stronger, so that a 50ml bottle could do not 5 but 50 liters of lemonade *at just twice the cost*.

In addition to that, the essences are loaded with food coloring, never healthy, and you still have to add all that sugar which is bad for anyone, prevents the drink from truly quenching thirst and adding lots of calories. The essences too are chemical aroma compounds, tasting them pretty much convinced me.

Is food coloring needed? Is low concentration and absence of a modern sweetener needed? I don't think so!

I created the following recipe from quality food ingedients that can all be found on the Internet for cheap. The Vanillin was standard baker's vanillin (not vanilla sugar), the Thymol and Menthol extracted from Thyme & Mint herbs. Pure Neotame was sourced from the manufacturer, the propylene glycol was pharmaceutical quality, such as used in childrens cough syrup.

Mint, Thyme and Vanilla aren't just a tasty combination, the three of them have beneficial medicinal effects on digestion and dental health, found in toothpastes and mouthwashes as oral antiseptics. The Mint is the main flavor. a tiny dash of Thyme adds a "herbal" quality to it so its "more than mint alone" without adding too much of its own character as Thyme is very overpowering. The Neotame adds sweetness which brings up the Mint & Thyme, and adds a Licorice-like aftertaste. The Vanilla adds to the sweetness, so that less Neotame can be used and in turn, less Vanilla can be used, and it too rounds off the stark flavor of the Mint and Thyme with soft Vanilla goodness. The carrier, propylene glycol is more than a nontoxic solvent that wont spoil: like glycerin in wine it makes the water taste "smoother" and helps the herbal extracts to faster, better penetrate the tastebuds, thus intensifying the taste.
Food Science!

Bear with me, here is the recipe:

LEMONADE L#3

4gr l-Menthol
2gr Vanillin
400mg Neotame
5mg Thymol
94ml Propylene Glycol (USP)

Store in the dark, preferably refrigerated, shelf life >1 year.

This gives you 100ml essence. The strength of this essence is such that you can put 1ml into a bottle of 1-2 liter water, and with that alone it "does" 100-200 liter lemonade on average, and this for a price thess that one storebought Surinamese essence which "does" 5 liters only - if you add a load of sugar.

With a 10ml oral syringe you can put 10 big bottles of water in a row, and in half a minute turn all of them into minty lemonade for a few cents.

Last month we had a heatwave and water, well, bores me if I have to drink much of it. And I have to, with my big body. I gave this lemonade a good test. I used 1.5 liter softdrink bottles, each received 1ml of the L#3 essence.

I drank 2-3 of such bottles in a day, 3-4.5 liters, for a month straight.

In the month I lost weight like I need to, wasnt overly hungry, had zero side effects and moreover, the lemonade is just as delicious now as it was 100 liters ago

Here it is,sweet lemonade, thirst quenching, OK for your teeth, you wont get fat or sick - or broke from the cost

Drink up!

Now I've got a tasty one, and a very simple recipe at that!

LEMONADE 122

2gr Neotame
2gr Raspberry Ketone
Propylene Glycol to 100ml

1ml makes 2 liters raspberry lemonade.
0.5ml = 1 quart, 2ml = 1 gallon

The lemonade is sweetened to softdrink sweetness level and the raspberry ketone level is at 10ppm (1-4 ppm in wild raspberries)

Delicious.

I remember you mentioning raspberry ketone in a few threads, I bought Reverse Osmosis water machine last week, I also bought ConcenTrace drops to remineralize the water, but the concentrace is low in sodium and potassium, they actually remove the natural sodium from the salt in their mimes, and the potassium is lower to i think,

So I bought a 12 pack of LMNT all the youtube carnivores shill, to add some sodium and potassium (and even more magnesium which the concentrate has already)  but I didn't realize the flavoured ones contain stevia, I don't mind stevia but I don't want it in my normal water supply, I want to use stevia more as a treat, but luckily LMNT didn't want you to buy their product if you are poor, they have 4 recipes on their website

But I don't really want to use fruit either, but this is good, because if I make my own, I can use less sodium, as I am not trying to replenish salt after a workout, and I can find some natural flavours like raspberry ketone, or maybe even order some e-cig flavours, I'll have to stop by the DIY ejuice subreddit and ask some questions

I just now mixed 20 drops ConcenTrace and 1 packet watermelon LMNT into 2 litres of water, and I drank 250ml cup, it tasted pretty good even though it says to use one packet in 450 to 900 ml water, I was afraid it would be too watery but I didn't think it was

I just searched amazon and eBay, everyone sells raspberry ketones in pills, its hard to just find powder, eBay had one powder but it shipped from India

I'll have to check out the health food store in town, and if they don't have it search supplement websites

Totally get some cheap raspberry ketone from China, as you see a few ppm (mg/L) does the trick and in moderation its good for you.

Its related to stimulants, its not a stimulant but it has a few nonstimulating properties, like enhanced fat burning.

You’re very welcome, and big tip: forget about vanillin and hop straight to ethylvanillin.

Its an ethanol ether instead of a methanol ether, so metabolically healthier, you need 2-3x less so its even more healthy and cheap, it is more stable, does not cause brown discoloration and it tastes so much better.

Ethylvanillin is what they prefer to use in candy, chocolate, beverages and cakes.

Savagely good stuff. Yum yum yum.

Easily bought online.

I’ve stumbled on a ridiculous variation of my lemonades, that I have drank to very good effect during a heatwave this summer. Its very nice, minimalist and non-objectionable to me.

It’s as simple as this:

1 liter of water
1 bottlecap of Jägermeister (20ml)
50mg Sucralose or 3mg Neotame (1oz sugar equiv.)

One quick shake - done!

It has the delicious flavor profile of Jägermeister, but only 0.7% alcohol. It has a bit of the herbal booze feel and whiskey look without none of the alcohol.

53 herbs in medicinal and flavorful combination of a herbal bitter without a wallop of alcohol or sugar.

I was surprised how good it tastes. Sweetness level comparable to 1 lump of sugar per glass.

One thing to keep in mind is that although the alcohol content is low, 0.7% ABV is not alcohol-free. A liter contains roughly 7 mL of ethanol, which is about 5.5 grams of pure alcohol—around 0.4 of a standard drink (using a 14 g U.S. standard drink). If someone drank several liters over a short period, the alcohol would add up.

This is inspiring to me, the idea of using quite small amounts of alcohol as flavoring. I have a bottle of chartreuse elixir - the original chartreuse medicinal drink. High alcohol, infusion of over 130 mountain herbs, strong anise flavor. It's alright in water, but maybe I could make it into a mixed drink with a similarly low alcohol.

I think I would use some kind of fruit juice mixed with the water, instead of a sweetener. Just my own preference.

The elixir is 70% alc so I'd have to use probably a bit less of it, but it's a strong flavor and even a few drops add flavor.

ginger beer goes well with aniseed spirits for a long drink. (i drink absinthe +ginger beer sometimes)

if you want to try a 'different' lemonade type drink try and get some sumac and use that instead of lemon.

Chartreuse Elixir sounds completely intriugueing to use in highly diluted form as a refreshing beverage. Since its 69% alcohol, one might well dissolve 250mg Neotame to a liter, so that 10ml in a liter of water is a herbal iced tea with the equivalent of an ounce of sugar in it. Of course, doing that makes it way too sweet to use in high concentration.

I never got around to ordering the ketone, but I made the watermelon LMNT recipe today, and Im surprised how much it actually tasted like LMNT packs

I used

1 gallon water

2 cups cubed watermelon

8 teaspoons lime juice (bottled as my store was out of limes for some reason)

10g salt

2g potassium chloride

2 squirts now brand stevia

And I don't have the magnesium malate so I left it out

Next time I'm going to try and omit the Stevia and see if its still good, as I feel like stevia makes it less hydrating and more like a juice or pop

Now one issue I ran into was the water mellons were over 10 pounds, the flyer said they were 11 pounds, but I swear it was heavier, I had to bring it home from down town that was a 50 minute walk, I had it in a back pack but it still fatigued my back muscles had had to take the back pack off and hold it with my hands for 10 minutes around the half way point cause my neck and back were all tired

It was this recipe that most interested me. After researching raspberry ketones, I was turned of from it. I do not need extra energy and curbed appetite.
Is good for others that want or need that.

I'm still looking for similar recipes though. Thanks
