Lol everyone thinks all rich people are like Elon or Bill Gates, but there's a ton of wealthy people who came from modest or rough backgrounds they're just not being shoved to the forefront of social media or the news. There are about 25 million millionaires in the USA. Or about 9% of the US population. I know millionaires who started businesses, invented products, worked their way up in companies to positions where they made a lot of money and saved, etc. and they're worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And they did that through hard work. Sure it gets easier as time goes on. But they're not pieces of shit for doing so.

Even if they did just buy stocks and hold it, more companies in the 90s went bankrupt than are still today. You have to do some amount of work to stay informed and invest in a smart way. Buying treasuries in the 90s wouldn't make you a millionaire in 30 years, unless you invested like 250k in them.

There are 900 billionaires in the USA today. I'm sure two or three of them are smart and competent.

even my parents have over a million dollars and did nothing crazy, these aren't even the same ballparks
