This is another reason why produce at the grocery store is prone to having recalls from things like hepatitis A and now this new virus that they found on lettuce or whatever.

The produce is picked by some poor migrant worker who doesn't know anything about sanitation who goes to the bathroom and then doesn't wash their hands and then picks your berries. Also they work per diem not per hour and so even though they are allowed to go to the bathroom they don't because it wastes time so they just take a shit and a piss right in the fucking strawberry patch in the field.

Yeah, like, diggin a latrine is pre-caveman shit.  Odds are, they scatter porto-johns around like jacks.  Not the most sanitary, but not poppin a squat in the middle of a field like a poorly-trained dog.  Migrant dudes might not be the best educated (thru no fault of their own), but they're not mentally handicapped.

I mean it is true that other countries don't have the same education in sanitation that they do in the usa. So yes a migrant worker would have much much less knowledge of bacteria and viruses and the importance of hand washing compared to a half educated person from the USA.
