Trump saying it, is one thing, but Google maps changing it... it implies a disturbing amount of influence. 

How does one abandon a ubiquitous tech giant?

You can't.  Usa has the power to rename places attached to it legally.  Not a big deal, VPN it and see it show up still in China internet.  But getting away from Google is impossible like living in the woods like the unibomber impossible where they still find you.

Piece by piece.

Big hits are email, search engine, browser, and gps navigation -- start there -- I'd recommend Proton, Qwant, Firefox, and Magic Earth, respectively, but there are other options out there too.

Then just take your time identifying what other things still use Google -- Drive, Docs, Calendar, etc -- and replace them one by one.

It's actually a much more streamlined process than it feels -- just don't let yourself get overwhelmed by trying to disconnect everywhere at once -- piece by piece

Trump is "in charge" of branch of government that can change things it was legally decided during the golf of America debate at the start of his presidency. It is just a name change of a lake, why does this bother you so much. This China's fault to begin with. Canada just cant replace the trade relatively between us and Canada but still tried to with China.

Especially with Canada signing on re arm European union cutting the united state out of military contracts. Canada is lucky there hasn't government overthrown by teenagers really lead by the united states.  Germany pulled it off in Nepal in 2025.

It be a real shame if our government was competent.

Sadly, it's your government that has been taken over by teenagers, dude. 

Canada... we have checks and balances still.  But CLEARLY, our breaks still work.  When a MAGA aligned, conservative man child ran for PM, he was embarrassed.   

Not that I am nationalistic, or triggered by my patriotism... Nice try, to rage bait me, or whatever.  It's a laugh that he changed it.  It's concerning that google so swiftly supports it... but, the great concern, it's a sign of a great weakness in modern America.  Such a child, can just swoop in and whimsically throw it into any sort of chaos that serves his ego, or covers up his pedophilia. 

Go ahead and blame China...  They have nothing to do with it. I'd rather just have a reasonable admin. to the south to deal with, but we don't.  Our best neighbor, sadly, right now, has a parasite, telling it what to do.  Until that changes, we're gonna have to roll with the ones that are at least acting reasonably at the HOA meeting.

It's gonna be near impossible for America to recover from all this.

I mean, everyone knows he is a child.

Still.. I don't think you realize the power this guy has.  Thank Bush/Cheney, but.. the man in incredibly powerful.  1/4th of the worlds military might is at his fingers. 

The world is aware of this.. and they are distancing from the USA because of this one man.  It's sad to see.

google is an american company , it has to lick boot or risk his childish ire on its own doorstep.

the world is not withdrawing because of one man its withdrawing because it realises that there are many more like him to take his place  - trump is a product of america as it stands today and that any government checks that were in place to quell absolute power have failed.
