Microdosing: is it a placebo or not?
    #29655999 -

The first time I tried microdosing (dry tidal wave blended and poured into gel caps) I saw results almost immediately. My mood lifted, my brain unfogged, my motivation levels lifted, etc.

But the next time I started microdosing it didn't do anything for me at. Largely due to people on this website "debunkng" the myth that microdosing does what many people say it does.

I know there are people who are still helped by microdosing despite what they have heard, but not me. I think there may be three reasons why:

1. I internalized what debunkers said
2. I'm depressed to a point where microdosing can't overcome it
3. My brain is still trying to recover from the damage meth did to it

I don't know but I really wish the Tidal Wave capsules were working the way they did before.

first of all, I think placebo effect is an important part of microdosing. but if you take too little you end up with just the placebo.
recently I heard dr. james fadiman saying he regretted refering to microdoses as "sub-perceptual" because while you should be completely functional on microdosing days you should also totally feel something, so it's important to dial it in right

I don't think microdosing is a placebo, both from personal experience and from reading numerous studies that says it is not. I've also seen studies that says that it is. So maybe the jury is still out on that.

But without a doubt the biggest benefit to people suffering from severe mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, and PTSD is from taking large doses under supervision. Study after study, year after year, show that.

There is benefit from microdosing, but it is small and subtle after months of use. Whereas large doses often show immediate relief from symptoms after just one dose lasting several months to years.

Maybe in time people will large dose as needed maybe once or twice a year, then microdose throughout the year as a preventative of sorts.

I can't trip. Not anymore anyway. In my teens, in the 80s and early 90s, I probably tripped on LSD 100 times. I loved it. I was doing it mostly for fun, tho, and not for the reason Timothy Leary wanted people to do it (in a controlled setting a guide or therapist)

I've tripped a few times since then, but with my extensive childhood trauma I gravitated to harder drugs like heroin, speed, and booze.

Fast forward to the 2020s, I took a couple of trip doses with someone to watch over me and it was an absolutely horrifying experience. I'm scared to try it again. Or I'd rather be in a forest the mountains or some place like that and not here at my house.

Anyhow I don't know what dosage the gelcaps I am using are, but they're not small ones. I am able to pour my shroom powder into them using a funnel. Maybe I should do two at a time instead? I mean, it is Tidal Wave, which is supposed to be the most potent strain. Or it was when I first started cultivating my own mushies
