There's something that's been running through the back of my mind the past few days that I want to speak to.
I see some people questioning the potential benefits that micro-dosing may provide, which is fair. A placebo effect might be all that is happening. I myself have admitted micro-doses didn't do that much, if anything for me, which is why I stepped up to threshold dosing, and even threshold+ dosing. (abbreviated to T dosing and T+ dosing. See my signature for full details.)
A micro-dose should be sub-perceptual by it's definition. If you feel anything beyond the slightest hint of an effect, you have exceeded a true micro-dose, and have instead found your threshold range.
Following the definition of a micro-dose, a single milligram of a mushroom could be considered a micro-dose, because nobody is going to feel that. The same goes for 10 milligrams, but I doubt that anyone would expect such a small amount to provide any therapeutic benefit.
The point I'm trying to get at is this: IF a micro-dose is going to provide any therapeutic benefit, I think that someone should strive to take as large of a dose that one can, WHILE keeping the dose UNDER the threshold range. Could it be that some people are taking too small of a micro-dose to gain any benefit from it? If so, someone would have to increase their dosing in small increments until they find their threshold range, just to know what that amount is. Of course, that will take time to do so safely and responsibly.
In order to pursue a true micro-dosing regimen, one would have to back off the threshold range until it's once again sub-perceptual. (That would have to factor in the setting, as it has an effect on what is or isn't perceived.)
Additionally, one should occasionally try increasing the dose ever so slightly to ensure their threshold range hasn't been elevated from frequent use.
I may very well be getting hung up on trivial definitions. At the same time I'm also trying to reinforce the notion that micro-dose has a definition, and IMO we need additional terms to use. Something for in between a micro and a mini. This way the terms mean the same from one person to the next. T dosing is the term I am suggesting. Even that still has a range before I would consider it a mini dose.
I still endorse T dosing over micro-dosing, as that has provided a benefit to myself, and it definitely is not a placebo dosage. T dosing and especially T+ dosing is something that should be worked up to based on my experience, in order to prevent any interference with important matters such as a job.
I'm open to suggestions for terms that could be used.
