Be advised, this TEK works a lot better when you have health insurance.  Also, this is pretty specific to the United States healthcare system.

Step one. Go ahead and get something wrong with you that you need to make a doctors appointment for.  In my case, this is the easiest step. My body just loves to come up with new and exciting reasons to visit various doctors and specialists.  I always bring a bag or a coat with some big pockets.

Step two. Wait until the nurse takes your vitals and asks your DOB for the 11th time and all that. Be super nice to Nurses. These people have been through hell to get where they are and really, its not all that much money for the shit they have to do. Once she's finished and says "the doctor will be with you in just a few minutes", you can move to step three.

Step three. Now you're alone in the doctors office waiting for the doc to finish with their last patient and then go over your chart etc. Don't worry, it will only take him like 78 minutes. Aren't you glad you woke up at 5am to sit in traffic to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out the form that only took five minutes and then wait 25 minutes looking at your phone like they asked you to?

Well now this is the actually the best part for us cultivators. Go ahead and help yourself to a giant wad of nitrile gloves.  Put them in your bag or your big pockets. Check out the cabinets too and see if you can find some swabs, blades, or anything else you might need in your lab when you get home. 





I'm only joking :maybe: but honestly? The medical industry is the biggest scam in the history of human civilization. Who do you think actually pays for the gloves? The doctor? The nurses? Nah. The facility budget covers the little this-&-thats which comes right out of their revenue streams: 40% comes from private insurance companies. 35%  from medicare. 23% from medicaid and 2% of it from the poor and uninsured.

So wheres the the money really coming from? Well lets see here.

Seems to me that 100% of that sum comes from.. us!
Insurance premiums and taxes.  Period!  You paid for the fucking gloves, the swabs, and everything else in that room you're sitting in wondering if whatever that thing you got going on is going to end your life and break all your loved ones' hearts. 

Insurance companies STEAL money from the most vulnerable people by design and every paycheck you ever made in your whole life was docked for medicaid and medicare and you probably don't even qualify for either of those benefits.  (If you do, then good on ya.  Repeat step 3 twice.)

So go ahead, friendo, help yourself to some god damned gloves and whatever else you need.  The large size never get used anyhow so the box is always full. 

help yourself, but then help everyone you can.

I cut out the steps, my wife works in an ER, and she often brings home whole boxes of gloves and she got me a dozen sterile swab packs.

Shit was peak in the early 2000s. The drawers feel more boring and locked down now. But Seattle is probably hard mode, not exactly a high trust environment :lol:

Iโ€™ve worked in lab medicine for decades. Never felt the need or the right to rip the hospitals or clinics off.
Hospitals are laying off staff because of budget deficits. Staff and patients suffer because of that.

I've also had good luck looking for grain on FB marketplace. Most farmers are old and don't use any social media besides Facebook.

Dollarama and the other doller-brand stores are a great place to look for cheap cult supplies in Canada.

I got these for drying grain for $4.50:

Ok, but my experiences with medical billing would have me paranoid that all that will end up as a line item on some bill a collections agent is constantly blowing up my phone about. $52.75 per finger on each glove. $70 for the thumbs. Wouldnโ€™t surprise me if theyโ€™re on the hotel mini fridge system with that shit.

Totally. I kinda hoped this thread would devolve into a spitball about cheap bastards like me getting cult stuff without breaking banks.

Getting lifetime supplies of tyvek from construction roll-offs. Wide mouth jars from the thrift stores. 

I found a the transformers for both my exhaust fan and lights for my tent in a thrift store bin.. bout $3 each.

Stealing from corporations and the us govt (one and the same) is an act of civil disobedience as is cultivation in general.

Goodwill's base price for mason jars is 50c but sometimes they mark them up crazy, like $2+, above retail... since it's usually on the lid, just take the lid off or move it to another jar.

I've gotten thrift store jars that had dried, colonized bits of WBS on the inside. The circle of life.

I may not get benefits, but working for a company that, during Covid, panic bought masks, gloves, and enough isopropyl to melt a hole straight through the dang mantle if it ever ignited is at least some kind of consolation prize for never getting to retire.
