Im not certain but I usually don't get as many fish when its hot out. Sometimes none at all I tried fishing at 6AM and saw a decent sized bass but it wouldn't go for bait.

I seem to have most success with slightly rainy cloudy weather I think it makes the bait look more realistic and cools temperature.

I been considering not using a swivel to switch out bait although it often works. I got fly fishing gear but haven't had enough time to try it.

We have had heat indices in the triple digits and last time that I went, it was hellishly hot. Well, I still caught tons of fish and the bass were jumping all ovwr the pond. The water was also like bath water too, so I dont unferstand that at all

Ive seen bass turn off in hot weather before, but mostly the small mouth bass. And even then I just go out deeper off the shoals and can still get them, just have to work a little harder for them.

The large mouths seem to reaction strike a lot if it's hot and you cast into some thick shit they will hit it.

All that being said the best fishing I've had for both small and large mouth bass has always been at the ass crack of dawn just as the sun is starting to rise like 5 am. Fucking feeding frenzy sometimes.

I agree

Early in the morning is the absolute best time to fish for bass :yesnod:

I did not catch a single fish yesterday :mad2:

The whole area was flooded and I have found that after heavy rain and flooding, the fish just will not bite here!

Went today and I caught nothing but small bass. Nothing picture worthy unfortunately.

Shitty buzz! Still fun to get out.

My cousin that always bails last minute says he wants to go this weekend smallmouth fishing. We will see if he actually shows up.

Cool man

Last time I went someone had been cathing the turtles and leaving them all headless on the bank

I assume they also have been catching and keeping all the fish that I stocked in there too, becuse I didn't get a single bite :mad2:

Time to find somewhere else to fish.

I'm still planning on going to the river, but there is no shade and it's deathly hot everyday. Plus, it's hard lugging all my gear five miles on a bike to get there, haha   I'll most likely have to go when it cools down in November.

Ive just recently gotten back into fishing. I love in the american southwest, so access to bodies of water is limited and usually involves a long drive.

That said, I've been mainly focused on carp and catfish. Haven't had much luck yet, but I enjoy my time at the lakes. Im hoping to camp at Ute Lake in the next 2 weeks or so, and plan on transitioning to fly fishing in the fall and winter.

This was from from friday, watching some storms rage across the desert.

Beautiful photo!

I love New Mexico  :yesnod:  I have been through much of the bottom half of it and it's gorgeous!

Good luck with the fishing
