Cabbage wine recipe.

10 lbs fresh cabbage from the store green. Clean and prepare 3 gallon carboy/bucket.
Wash and cut cabbage into 1 inch stripes,place in cheese cloth/mash bag and place it fermenting primary container.  Place 3 lbs brown sugar in primary container, mix in 3 teaspoon of allspice as well. Boil 2.2 gallons of water and pour to brim of primary.  Wait until 85f and pour your Red Star Premier Blanc Wine Yeast or your favorite Muscat yeast that you started already. Seal up and wacth the magic for 14 days.
Remove cabbage bag out of must, taste. Rack into secondary.

Did you actually make this? I’d take a swig. Get cabbage drunk at least once before using the rest for cooking

I have to admit, cabbage wine sounds like it'd be absolutely foul. Has anyone actually made this recipe, and if so, what does the finished product taste like? I'm genuinely curious now.

I have too many questions. Does it even have much of a flavor or does the allspice help out with that? I assume the allspice is also for tannins? Do you not need the metabisulfite at the beginning because you dump in boiling water? Do you actually drink it straight up or do you use it like to make vinegar or something? Do you backsweeten it? Have you ever used other veggies? Thx

The spices help and turn it red. No vinegar taste. I usually back sweeten but don't with spices involved unless it's  mead.


P.s. veggies wise the worst wine I've made mustard seeds. Best is honeysuckle and moonflower.
