Tbt to my favorite spiral!

I remember trying really hard to get the pleats evenly spaced and level. The dye was actually reclaimed from a previous ice dye session; I just let the muck water evaporate and chopped up the remaining dye/soda ash crystals into a powder, then put it on the shirt, added ice, and that's the result. Obviously there was some turquoise in there, because it spread much farther than the others (it always does). The precision on this one was tedious as fuck.

Ps.  The reclaim ice dye tek Is super groovy.  I can imagine getting some  cool unsual color bleed combos from that.

Thanks man. Unfortunately, the reclaim dye doesn't always take. I tried it on a tapestry and the reclaim area (the lighter green in the middle) was left blank 😢











I had to re-fold and re-dye. Seemed to work out okay, but I always wonder what the original would have looked like.

That's fucking awesome..I never thought to dye a tapestry that already has a design on it. That's really cool looking.


Either way it's still good practice in sustainability. And the world knows we need as much of that as we can get.

Nice. I kinda like the green, it's like an earth tone. It maybe doesn't fit the other colors prefectly, but I dig it. Looks like it was thin-ish material? I love how easy that is to pleat! Makes the intricate designs easier to manage for sure.

I haven't done a big piece in a while, I have a little bit of fomo 😁

Yall are amazingly talented!

So not knowing anything except what sinew is lol.

I wanna see an iced out glitched geode darker colors maybe peacockish & maybe so bleaching incorporated but really fine lined.

Needs more purple (I dig royal violet)

Now THAT is a challenge :lol:

But could possibly be done if folds were made before the geodes were bunched and tied...though that would just mirror-image the geode along the fold lines...might not glitch it out but it would stretch and distort!

We've had a few geodes in the thread thus far. I bet one of us could pull it off with enough attempts, after finding the right tie and dye colors.

Dye is funny when ice dyed; it can split into different colors. For example, there's no red/purple dye in the first shirt below, I'm pretty sure that came from one of the grays as it split into its individual colors.

I love drinking tea, pouring paint onto a canvas, and running a needle through the paint for 3 or 4 hours. As soon as I can no longer "see" the next needle movement, I rotate the painting (doing so more than twenty times during the process) and continue until I can't see any more movement to add. Once the painting is dry, I look at it while turning it to find its final orientation (a process often filled with hesitation). Then, I try to come up with a name and write a short thought to go with it (you can see this on Instagram; the link is in my signature).Thanks to JW123 for the link to this thread.Here are some results:
