With more free time on my hands, I should create more. Been doing some home improvement but it's time for designing stuff. Made some Minoan inspired motifs for linocuts. Going to make something for a good Spring bonfire.

The double axe was an important religious symbol in their culture. Just like the bull horns. They also depicted eyes and ears flying in the sky above scenes of dancing and extasy (interpreted as signifying 'visions'). I wanted to draw a flower with double axes, cut it in lino, and print wooden boards with it. Make something out of the boards and set that on fire.

Yeah they were crazy about octopi. I have a replica of a beautiful vessel that I saw in a museum in Greece

That's an absolutely wonderful idea Churp! I remember your other designs now, and I love every bit of the whole process. The intention is beautiful.

Ya know, it seems silly to burn beautiful stuff, but we make beautiful food and then eat it 🤷

That vessel is gorgeous 😍 I have thrown pottery a few times in the past, and I learned to stop trying to throw a bowl or a cup because it would invariably fail to meet my vision. Instead, I tried to throw a "vessel" and my success rate went up 40000% 😂

Making garments for this year's madness. The weeping morning glories were made in honor of Hippie's cousin. Of course weeping Ipomoeas are Aztec imagery and they represent hallucinogenic nectar. But I wanted them to represent heavenly tears for the ones who didn't make it. Had to think a lot about the parents of the Minab girls too. When I was tripping on ovoids. So it had to be used.
The quality of this linoleum is really subpar so it doesn't print that nice. Going to redo it on higher quality material. Making sketches for a Medusa / Gorgo for the back.



I still can't draw for shit, but it's more about the intention anyway. Haha. Typical words for someone who can't draw for shit.

Ah yeah, you're right. It isn't disparaging per se, it's more that coming of age in the squatter scene among extremely talented druggies, has taught me that my concepts are fine, but I don't have the practical skills to really do them justice.

I mean the friend who tattooed my back, for example, can draw anything from imagination and do it perfect, tech, composition, dimensionality, everything. That's like producing a mediocre cube grow (which is cool) while sitting next to Fahtster. It makes you realize there's a lot of levels of skill.

It's more, rather, I hate to see the "get the shot in at myself before anyone else can" type mentality play out, and wondered about it in that sense.

Nothing wrong with being critical, accepting and open to ones own shortcomings, having desire to improve based on motivation from peers etc, of course.

Learning how to color with acrylic paint markers. They're fun!

Always a challenge to do anything semi-realistic (shadows, color tones, gradient, etc.). Apparently squiggles are good for grass 🤷

They are fun to use eh? Love the way they go onto paper and card, never used them on anything else yet.
The squiggles do look good for grass, and I like how you have the water looking.

Gotta be pretty tight not to overlap, not as bad as alcohol markers, but still have me hunched, contorted and breath held over the desk like a goblin pulling a line with them sometimes.

Ah yeah no, if I felt bad about what I made I wouldn't post it. But I do realize it's the work of an amateur. That's all. There's nothing wrong with that, I strongly denounce the idea that everything should be picture perfect.

Like, I used to live in a house where I decorated everything like this. Just totally random super wook crudely painted stuff that only my gfs liked haha

Yeah I had no regular blue block print ink, once I get that and make an acceptable print with it I can send it to you if you like. The idea was that everything would be in green, except for the flowers and the tears. Those should be blue, like the sky and like water, with the sky symbolizing 'what's beyond' and water being the source of all life. No loss without life, and no life without loss.
