There is no way you get trich from pseudo casing if it’s only coir or coir + verm, right?

I'm going to post this (It's from my "GROWING SHROOMS, FROM SPORES TO TRIPS" "everything tek")

But now someone else will reply and say "no they don't add that", but he's wrong.

COIR
Plantronix Coco Bliss is good coir for growing shrooms. Nature's Premium brand coir is also good. Some coir for flowers and other non-food plants has ADDED green mold (Trichoderma harzianum, aka Trich) that's good for plants (out competes worse contams on non-food plants) but ruins shroom grows.

Be sure to pour boiling water on your coir and let it sit in a closed container before use though, just to kill any naturally occurring contams. That also makes it easier to scrape loose coir off the compressed coir bricks. I use a screwdriver.

Bucket tek will kill any molds , but an hour after it's cooled it has mold spores again.
A healthy colony should have zero issues with this though

I highly recommend gamma seal lids.  they fit any standard bucket and turn it into an air and water-tight container.  they can withstand boiling water without issue and you can leave leftover coir in there until you need it.  they also work fantastically for storing and curing large amounts of weed.

Yeah, I’ve read that some coco coirs can contain mold, so I use Trixie Coir, which is intended as a terrarium substrate for reptiles and amphibians. It’s heat sterilized and free from fungus and germs.

All coir contains mold don't be fooled , it would have to be vendor purchased and fully sealed to be guaranteed fam, but like I said earlier a healthy colony gives zero fucks focus on clean spawn the rest of the game is easy

I see. Also since spawning is not a sterile process and trich spores are everywhere, clean spawn is all that really matters.

I think they are referencing the gardening coir that is specifically fortified with trich.

I've successfully done a monotub grow at the beginning of the year following beef's hitchhiker guide.
I've seen that he's doing mostly shoebox size grows now, but can't find a guide on how to mod one similar to the pastywhite's monotub guide. Any pointers guys? It would be more practical for me to go to 16qt tubs.

Does the lid's tightness (or lack thereof) affect anything? Also, does stacking 'em change the process in any way?

also a thing about coir.  i use coco bliss and i use it for my amphibian terrerium and ive had it sit there for months and it never trichs, never molds.

musrhoom mycelium gets trich after its lost its vitality.

coir doesnt trich.  theres nothing for it to eat.
dying mycelium does. its nutritious.

yes it helps. i dont believe in sealed lids.  no stacking doesnt really effect things much.  slows down the airflow a tiny bit i suppose.

i actually was working on hole patterns that seemed to work even better for a 16q tub.  its just 3 holes down each side about a half an inch from the sub level.  then i was doing about 5 holes on the lid.  really helped with condensation and "raining" which i really hate.

i have in my mind a tub design ive never tried where theres many more smaller holds.  perhaps picture-nail sized along the sides then many small holes in the lid as well.

you have to stagger stack the tubs for the lid holes to work right.  not nested.  if that makes sense. soery i just woke up. i need to finish my reseach and do a write-up.

Cool, I think I'll be doing this for my next grow!

Makes sense, you don't want the upper tub to block the bottom's lid holes. Looking forward to that write-up.

Thanks a lot Beef, as always you're a gem!

now now just because it came out of my head doesnt mean it wont be a disaster.  you do this youre out on a limb with me and theres no safety net.

but if you do do it, please share your findings.  im especially intetested in creating a "rainless" tub.  a true set-a-forget.  (for arid climates, at least) i feel like humid climates will need a bit bigger, or more holes.

sometimes my cartoons work and sometimes its some wile E. coyote shit.

the thing i try to get people to do is to keep having cartoons.  dont just take something as gospel because a "trusted cultivator" said it.

The high priest Beef has spoken! His wise proclamation has been carved into stone: "TCs are not to be trusted". So it is written.

Am I doing the whole religion thing right?

truth is, everything ive innovated myself was borrowed from someone elses work.  i think of other peoples tried methods and designs and a jumping off point, rather than a summit to stand on.
