Thanks, this is much appreciated.

Just bought 1 SOL based on your optimism to keep me going until I make a decision on larger amounts

Congrats to you for hoppin' upon the SOL train! :yesnod:

Here's another juicy little tidbit to whet thine appetite... SOL dominance repeatedly pushin' up against all time highs.

Separately, can't really deny the power of the XRP move.  Ugh, I really hate XRP.  Feel kinda dirty waxin' positive on it. :tongue2:

Well hello again, been a minute.  Geo thanks for hosting this thread for so long truly appreciate it. Pretty exciting to see SOL performing as it's my #3. Haven't traded in 2 years. Ever since CB pro combined with CB I lost track of my history and laid back. Sort of considering options for real estate as I may be able to finally realize some gains.

Yeah, I profiled SUI here about a month ago.  I was a bit cautious in my stance and I never bought in, but that was a mistake, as it's been absolutely on fire.

A lot of the traders over in the CryptoMarketMentor group initiated positions in the $1 range, and I almost added on the break of the wedge on November 9th but didn't do so largely out of concern for how many capital gains I'd have to pay for reallocating the money from my BTC and SOL bags that are hugely profitable.  Because I feel BTC and SOL still have a way to go, I sat yon my hands but SUI has been kickin' ass for sure.

Hard to buy it here though, but if you own it already, hold on for as long as that 8 day EMA remains support.  If SUI pulls back to back test ~$2.50, that would likely be a great place to add, but with the market so strong generally, you might start adding on a retracement to ~$3.

Heard there was a big push to buy Dogecoin today. Reddit was wild about it. Any chance that had any impact?

Budman might be proud to hear that I took a position in a meme token last night .

This SUPER ANON meme token launched last night on Coinbase's EVM Base chain.  Created via AI, in conjunction with a Farcaster (decentralized social media network) app called SuperCast. Apparently the founder was asleep during launch and received zero tokens, but the Farcaster community has collectively sent him hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of the token this morning in gratitude, and in efforts to strengthen the community network effects surrounding this meme token.

Interesting dynamics at play.  The number of token holders has increased by an order of magnitude overnight (from ~200 to ~2K+), and more than doubled again this morning (to just under 5K holders).  With a market cap of ~$3M, there is room to grow, but liquidity is thin, and you can't move big money in or out of this issue presently. I've been buying $250 lots just for fun throughout the evening and this morning. Up over 100%. Not serious investing, but entertainment on an inside day. 😎

Contract address: 0x0Db510e79909666d6dEc7f5e49370838c16D950f

After a wild ride, I ended up liquidating my position here for a better than 3X.

Still looks pretty strong to be honest, but with such low liquidity, it's best to just sell the rips when you can.  On account of the low liquidity, I can't really put enough capital into this thing to move the needle of my aggregate portfolio anyway, so as I've stated before, this is really more of an amusement trade, and not to be considered a core idea for long term allocation.

Mystikal, on DOGE I'm not really sure.  I don't actively watch that coin and haven't been privy to any chatter surrounding a coordinated buying effort.

Pretty sure any concerted buying effort would just pile more into the already billionaires coiffers

Think today was the opening of options trading on crypto ETFS?

Something like that, doesn’t seem to have impacted much yet

Pump and dump maybe, reddit was rife with it years ago probably still is. Some mayor accounts announce they will be buying a shitload of tokens on a particular day while in reality they already bought into the coin and then dump on the people buying the coin on that day.

IBIT is the only one so far, with options trading starting today.  A few hundred million so far in options volume, which is a lot for day one.  Here's a rank of the contracts by volume, almost all calls. Indicates a bullish bias, with a lot of the Dec20th $100 calls moving, which is effectively betting that the price of BTC will double in the next month.

I'm bidding on a few bull put spreads, but BTC will need to come down a bit for me to catch my $1 ask on the Dec $50/$49's.  I like to use options to trade around a core position (selling calls on rips and then turning around and selling puts to rebuild the position if it gets called away, and/or just collect the premiums as a dividend), but I already have so much direct crypto exposure that there isn't much for me to do with the options right now.

Nevertheless, it is nice to have options!

Nothin' to sneeze at!  Here are a handful of headline recaps from JUST THE LAST TWO DAYS.  This is an amazing time to be exposed to crypto.

  • The Crypto Total Market Cap hit a new all time high recently, just over 3T.

  • SOL DEX's recording trade volume in excess of the combined activity in Ethereum, Base and BSC this past week.

  • Donald Trump’s social media company Truth Social is reportedly in “advanced talks” to acquire storied crypto platform Bakkt, according to the Financial Times citing two people familiar with the matter.

  • Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is meeting with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss “personnel appointments,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

  • Wall Street giants like Vanguard, Morgan Stanley, State Street, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and BlackRock are significantly increasing their investments in MicroStrategy (MSTR). This surge in institutional interest has driven MicroStrategy's stock up by 509% in 2024, outperforming Bitcoin's 188% gain

  • MicroStrategy has acquired 51,780 BTC for ~$4.6 billion at ~$88,627 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 20.4% QTD and 41.8% YTD. As of 11/17/2024, MSTR hodl 331,200 $BTC acquired for ~$16.5 billion at ~$49,874 per bitcoin.

  • MicroStrategy (MSTR) plans a $1.75 billion private offering of 0% convertible senior notes due 2029. The notes are unsecured and non-interest-bearing, convertible into cash, stock, or a combination. Proceeds will be used to buy Bitcoin and for general corporate purposes.

  • MARA Holdings, Inc. (MARA) has announced the pricing of its oversubscribed and upsized offering of $850 million in zero-coupon convertible senior notes due 2030, primarily to acquire Bitcoin and repurchase existing notes.

  • Billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones has increased his fund's Bitcoin holdings by 5x to $159.9 million through BlackRock's ETF according to SEC filings. PTJ is now a top 10 holder of IBIT.

  • Polish presidential candidate Sławomir Mentzen has promised to adopt a strategic Bitcoin reserve if elected.

that pic

Amongst all the rallies I have realized that my tax situation regarding cryto is pretty godawful. I have never paid taxes on crypto - which is fine because Ive never really realized a profit in cash. But have performed so many transactions trading one crypto into another over the years, and across various exchanges - some of which no longer exist - that it will likely be impossible for me to accurately reflect the cost basis of my current portfolio.

That being said, all of my staking is done on a private ledger wallet, as well as all of my crypto holdings. I know its important to report and pay taxes on staking gains each year (if im not mistaken).. am thinking it is time to maybe consult with a crypto tax specialist (assuming the cost isnt stupid pricey). One concern I have is that I purchased 2 bitcoin on coinbase maybe in 2012-13, then transferred them to BTC-E (an old exchange) where I did some unprofitable trading, and eventually sold them off at a loss during that time - as well as bought a bunch of hotdogs in vegas.

I do not know if the IRS might ever come hunt me down asking for my detailed history on those two BTC, if so I might need to leave the country :frown:

on 2nd thought, might wait for new administration to get in and see how that shakes things up regarding crypto tax laws. will probably still consult with tax person but why do anything now until its more clear where laws are headed.

Fo sho... I've used both Koinly.io and CoinTracking.info to help me prepare tax calculations.  But yeah if you have old trades on defunct exchanges, that'll be a bit of a crapshoot.  The IRS does consider "good faith estimates" for old transactions a legit practice (in my experience), so I wouldn't worry too much about it.  Frankly, if you're paying tax on your crypto gains, I think they're going to be pretty happy, as it seems fairly likely that a lot of people haven't been paying any at all.
