I haven't verified the stated fact, whether these are Buffet's personal holdings, or an aggregation of his conglomerate (berkshire hathaway) holdings; and it does make some sense for someone with as many assets as Warren Buffet, to have some balanced exposure to low risk fixed income such as treasury bills.  Nevertheless, the general takeaway when money moves into a "safe" trade such as T-bills, is that there is an expectation of increased downside risk, limited upside opportunity, or both... hence the flight to a safe asset such as the T-Bill, which protects your principal while delivering an unimpressive but relatively stable yield.

Buckle up, Monday could be a blood bath.  I (kind of) like big bad Monday’s.  If they’re bloody enough, they can make for a nice recovery point.  Man, I did not see this deep of a hit coming in the markets (crypto particularly), but that’s been the case a few times over in this space; hence why it’s always nice to have those unreasonably low bids in place, in the event that they suddenly find themselves reasonable.  I'm almost all cash in my brokerage account... but alas my much larger crypto exposure is taking an absolute beating at the moment.

Diamond hands baby. :tongue2:

Buffet says he halved his huge stake in AAPL for tax reasons, and still likes the company just as much. We'll see.  Whenever he goes conservative to cash I always wonder how much he's really bearish vs poised to pounce fairly soon on a value play. It's usually the latter.

Cash is OK right now but if interest rates decline and Buffet stays big in cash yielding less, we won't have to guess what he's thinking.

Warren Buffet is 93 years old. What mental illness does he have that makes him want more insane amounts of money even though he might die any 5 seconds now.

I've been involved heavily with Bitcoin since 2011 & watched the unfolding of CT and the rise of the meme wars (both pictures and now blockchains). It is honestly Bitcoin that has brought me to psychedelics, because until I revisited them, it had been the most intellectually engaging thing I'd ever found.

I don't know if anyone has quantified Terence McKenna's Timewave Zero Theory to Bitcoin. It was his most speculative and contested ideas by far, even putting me to sleep.

However, Dec 21 2012 lines up quite conveniently with the initial date of Bitcoin's true parabolic rise... Did timewave become timechain?

Perhaps the shift in consciousness Terence spoke so passionately about was the moment the first digital psychedelic shed its first stage booster and entered into universe of the public mind. Something permissionless, borderless, censorship resistant, open, verifiable & incorruptible.

A fun thought at least =)

I don't know about all that Ihsotas.  A bit too ethereal for me, but hey, if it works, it works!  More power to ya! :yesnod:

I have all the SOL I need the moment, but if I didn't, I would consider picking some up here.  No effort to pump, y'all do what you want, but it just looks juicy is all. 😎

sedracoin.com (SDR) just bottomed out at $.00007 on 7/22/24 after launching in March.  It hit a high of $.0006999 on 8/16/24 and is back down to $.0005971 today.  I'm mining SDR with one KS0 Pro, one KS0 Pro Ultra, and one KS3M.  Could break to the upside again after stabilizing.  https://sedracoin.com/

There's no reason to say "mental illness" or "insane".

I'm not sure why Warren Buffet wants to keep making huge amounts of money, but I know it's not to buy expensive personal stuff because he never has. I'm guessing his motivation is a mental exercise. Most of his wealth will be left to a charitable trust. His partner Charlie made it to 99 and he was still sharp.

Buffet has long been a vocal advocate of increasing the taxes on the super-rich. What should we blame him for?

Fed signaled this morning that rate cuts are on the way.  Crypto is waking up.

Taking a 3.5X leveraged long trade on SOL via the Jupiter Perpetual Contract.  SOL has been squeezing hard for the past week and a half.  This move is likely to have some legs.

Bitcoin also back above its 50 day MA... finally.

For comprehensive crypto charting, I use TradingView.com - Customizable charts, live feeds on practically everything, mobile alerts.  It's all good!  Sign up around major holidays, as they often offer heavily discounted subscription rates during those times.  This post shows a screenshot from TradingView.

To track my holdings, I manually enter my positions in the "CoinStats" iOS application and view via mobile.  I don't pay for a subscription, and don't directly link any third party accounts or wallets, I just enter my positions and edit when necessary, to keep a bird's eye view on all my positions.

For fiat currency on- and off-ramping, I use Kraken.com.

The only active trading I do these days is on the Solana network.  The chart above showing my 3.5X leveraged position on SOL was a screenshot from the Jupiter Perpetual Contracts web application.  Jupiter also offers instant swap and limit order trading for many assets, including wrapped bitcoin and wrapped ether.

So far so good.  Stops up to the bottom of the fresh daily candle to give it a little room for follow through, or lock in +15.7% on the day.  As is often the "problem" with a trade like this, I wish I had committed more collateral and/or used more leverage.  In reality, that rarely works, as the oversized position can make you nervous, and you end up placing your initial stop too tightly and get clipped prematurely in what might otherwise end up as a solid trade.

I'm about half way to my initial profit target, which would be a right juicy trade.  Note that this trade will fall back into plain vanilla SOL when it's closed, so I will remain exposed regardless of where I get taken out, as I absolutely think we have more of a runway here.  But just because I think we have more room to run, doesn't mean I want to stay exposed on a perpetual contract for a prolonged period of time.  Doing so leaves my funds in the custody of Jupiter's smart contracts, which I'm not too worried about, even as I do prefer to maintain self-custody as much as possible.  But more importantly, the leverage borrow fees are always running when these trades are open, and it's also just really disheartening/discouraging to see a big gain round-trip itself.

The inflation adjusted value since 1958 of his $31,500 house is still over $160,000 below the national median. IDK if he has security; he's not going to get shot in the ear.

Good mornin' everyone! :sunny:

Being able to set my stop under that tight little flag last night sure kept me sleeping cozy, and with SOL still tracking beautifully along its 15min 8 period EMA, I've moved my stop up to just below this morning's little flag, to lock in +27% on a faltering of the short-term momentum, while raising my take profit to $162 in efforts to capture a pleasant +40% should we continue this sprint.

I would note that this trade was my fourth attempt to exploit the volatility squeeze that was developing on SOL this past week. The prior three were all stopped out at breakeven, and this reminds me of the importance of a disciplined process in trading.

It can be easy to become fatigued (hence why regular breaks from trading are important!), but my best trades are almost always born out of relentless repetition.  With proper risk management, great trades will often be in the minority, yet able to more than offset any losses from the majority of trades that land as duds along the way.

Target achieved, closed position for +40.4% gain in 24 hours. :yesnod:

I of course think we still have room to run, and so by "closed", I really just mean that I took off the 3.5X leverage and the position is now allocated back to plain vanilla SOL.

Indicated initiation of this trade in this post yesterday.  So I was leveraged on this trade for less than 24 hours.  40% in less than a day is alright with me. :tongue2:

Well done.

I stumbled across the existence of volatility ETFs. Am I correct in assuming that high volatility ETFs (only for experts and quick exits) bet directly on volatility, and low volatility ETFs are a portfolio of low volatility securities?

Without tickers, I can't be completely sure what you're referencing.  But typically when people say they are "trading volatility", they're either buying calls/puts on the VIX or trading any number of ETF's that return movement correlated with the VIX, such as VXX (long volatility) or SVXY (short volatility) or UVXY (leveraged long volatility).

Now of course, certain companies or ETF's trade with more volatility than others, but that's generally not what's being referenced when folks are talking about "volatility ETF's".  The most popular volatility ETF's are the aforementioned VXX, SVXY and UVXY, which derive their movements from the VIX.  The VIX index itself is not directly tradable, but derives its value from the premiums people are willing to pay for options on the S&P 500 index.  It is referred to as the "fear index" because when people are fearful of sudden large moves in the market, they will pay a much higher premium for index options on the S&P500, since put options in particular are a way to expose a relatively small/defined amount of capital, that then acts as insurance against your long exposure.
