Some nice headlines today, as crypto continues to weave its way into the mainstream fabric...

  • Bitcoin exchange reserves have plummeted to approximately 2.8 million coins—their lowest levels in years.

  • California's Department of Motor Vehicles digitized 42 million of car titles on the Avalanche (AVAX) network as part of development to modernize the state's title transfer process with software development firm Oxhead Alpha.

  • Sen. Cynthia Lummis is putting together a bill that will lay out a pathway for the U.S. to hold bitcoin and gives states the option to do so as well. The bill is called the “Boosting Innovation, Technology, and Competitiveness through Optimized Investment Nationwide Act of 2024” or shorthand, the "BITCOIN Act of 2024.

  • Icebreaker, co-founded by Coinbase and Google veterans Dan Stone and Jack Dillé, has secured $5 million in seed funding at a $21 million valuation to scale its team and build blockchain’s answer to LinkedIn.

Click Here for some interesting counterpoints to the generally blindingly positive coverage SOL gets.

While I am no personal fan of memecoin trading, and readily understand the potential to get "rugged" when wading into said space, I'm not sure its prevalence can be fully discounted to zero value.

Despite the prevalence of programmatic trading bots that can inflate volume metrics, there are obviously real people involved, or there wouldn't be any real capital for the trade/MEV bots to take advantage of.  And for the retail folks who are going to commit capital to these obviously poor trades, that's on them.  The network is no protector of ignorant speculative retail traders.

I do however agree in part, with the writer's conclusion that there is a definitively momentum based sentiment factor driving SOL short term, and that the long term picture is more uncertain.  That is always the case when an asset is on the move.  It moves on expectations, and expectations aren't always fulfilled.  I think that for this cycle, SOL remains the place to be.  But if Ethereum can rerack its infrastructure to effectively reduce fees while increasing throughput and composability across its L2's, it can still retain its dominance.

Time will be the ultimate arbiter, but in the meanwhile, the price action of the network's mainstay token is what we must concern ourselves with, and SOL is still proving attractive from that perspective.

Thanks for sharing Geo - and agreed best approach is to stay liquid (as in like water), ready to flow where it makes the most sense.

I converted about half of my BTC to SOL about two months ago, and consolidated all other coins into SOL as well (the one exception XLM which I’m holding onto for shits and giggles). It has been a good switch as SOLs performance has certainly outmatched BTC during that time.

Thanks Geo - without your posts here I honestly probably wouldn’t even know of SOL.

I'm starting to realize that it's not worthwhile being on the BSC chain, at least where I'm at.

I'm looking to bridge over the coins I have to another network. Been thinking mainly Arbitrum One, but Base seems very enticing too. I know there's a lot of talk about Solana and it's very low gas fees (Ethereum hurts my soul in that regard). The only thing with Solana holding me back is the mass amount of meme coins.

I don't want to be too much of a degenerate in crypto assets (done that enough with options). To me it just feels like Solana is an easy way to get duped, but I don't know enough to say about that subject.

Side Note: Been a long time since I've been on these forums, glad to be back!

Solana has wrapped BTC and ETH assets, as well as, naturally, native SOL.  Those are the top three, most worthwhile assets to invest in, in crypto.  I think some of the second tier app-related coins on Solana such as JUP and KMNO might also be worth a whirl, but they're much more speculative.  If you don't like the meme coins, don't buy 'em.  I surely don't.  The fact that the Solana network can handle trading in 6,000 new meme coins a day, is supportive of the network's usability.  Doesn't mean you have to buy 'em... and there's plenty of stables; USDC, UDST and PYUSD to trade into, if you want to sit out the action.

Warren Buffett apparently holds more US treasury bills now than the federal reserve does. This is the bigun get ready.

Can you elaborate on why that matters? I'm a dummy. Like what are the pros and cons

I haven't verified the stated fact, whether these are Buffet's personal holdings, or an aggregation of his conglomerate (berkshire hathaway) holdings; and it does make some sense for someone with as many assets as Warren Buffet, to have some balanced exposure to low risk fixed income such as treasury bills.  Nevertheless, the general takeaway when money moves into a "safe" trade such as T-bills, is that there is an expectation of increased downside risk, limited upside opportunity, or both... hence the flight to a safe asset such as the T-Bill, which protects your principal while delivering an unimpressive but relatively stable yield.

Buckle up, Monday could be a blood bath.  I (kind of) like big bad Monday’s.  If they’re bloody enough, they can make for a nice recovery point.  Man, I did not see this deep of a hit coming in the markets (crypto particularly), but that’s been the case a few times over in this space; hence why it’s always nice to have those unreasonably low bids in place, in the event that they suddenly find themselves reasonable.  I'm almost all cash in my brokerage account... but alas my much larger crypto exposure is taking an absolute beating at the moment.

Diamond hands baby. :tongue2:

I was in the middle of that blood bath last night on coin base when it suddenly dropped from 55k to 52k. I was in the middle of depositing some cash, but coinbase was giving me an insufficient funds error which was complete bullshit cuz I had more than enough in my bank. Oh well, hoping for 45k btc
