Substrate Tea...

Has anyone ever tried the substrate tea? I read that in the recipes section. You chop up the 1/2 pint PF cake into cubes and boil it in a pot of about 2 cups of water. Then you strain it through a coffee filter and drink the hot water or make hot cocco out of it. I tried it and all I got was bad gas and the nasty ass shits! So what the hell??

I'd have liquified it in a blender then boiled it.

I have tried two different cake extractions and neither resulted in anything.

The only way i've successfully tripped from substrate was from eating straight up colonized brown rice. Not a PF cake.

My first attempt was using PF style cakes. I tried extracting and running TLC, but got nothing to show. Perhaps my extraction was not good.

Second attempt was using three cups of fully colonized rye berries. I tried a different extraction method, but again nothing showed.

I used what was in my fungifuel bags (whatever the mix). Chopped em up, boiled water, let the water cool for a few minutes, threw the chopped substrate in the water, let it sit there for 25-30 minutes, and drank the tea.

What a trip, could have split it.

Hey there... reviving this thread,
I want to trip with 2 friends in few weeks time but don't think I'll have enough shrooms for us all by then, so as an alternative I'd like to make tea out of my PF cakes...
Can anyone advise me as to how this is best done, how much substrate one should use and what the results might be...

Its hard to judge the potency of substrate, the only way to know what your getting into is to have tried a specific grow or batch of shrooms.

Cut up the cake/cakes into chunks,

Boil some water (2-3 cups per cake),

Let the water cool for a couple minutes,

Throw the chunks in the water,

Let them sit for 20 minutes or so (the longer the better, 30-40 minutes is best),

Filter the water with a coffee filter,

Drink up, enjoy.

Mabye the reason the first guy dint get any effets is that he boiled the cake, boiling breaks down the magic.

I've never had any luck with substrate tea. Has anyone, if so post a good recipe. Maybe a recipe without boiling? It seems everyone has a different opinion on the boiling. I certainly don't know. It seems pretty logical to trust Shulgin though.
