 WTF is up with my grass?

I finally finished landscaping my back yard this year. Part of the yard had lawn installed. This was brought in in the form of sod. Now I have one spot in my lawn that grows like crazy and I don?t know why. Everything came from the same batch of sod and was planted in the same manner.
Here is my lawn freshly cut. I used the flashlight (standard 2 D-cell maglite) for reference. Notice the darker green patch next to the flashlight. This is the spot.
Now, here is pictures of the same patch of lawn less than 2 weeks later. The rest of the lawn has grown maybe an inch, but the patch is over 6 inches tall!
So wtf is going on? Who has an explanation for this? I?m just glad the whole lawn doesn?t grow this fast! I?d have to cut the fucker every few days!

well first let me just say reading the subject i thought you meant something different 
but anyways, i'm no lawn expert.. But I mow the lawn here where I live, and theres a lot of yard out there. A couple of different kinds of grass grow throughout. I must say that patch of grass looks like a different species of grass.
If thats the case, well your gonna have to rip it up and re-sod a piece. Or I dunno... fertilize the rest of your lawn except for that spot   hehe I dont know what i'm talking about I shouldnt of replied, cool pictures though. Point well illustrated.

Do you have a septic tank? The grass at my folks' place in the country always seems to grow greener over the cap for their septic system.

probably either dog urine(which is high in nitrogen, thus causing greening and growth, or it is another type of grass that sprung up there. Do the blades of grass look different from the surrounding grass? It looks in the pic like it is a courser blade. Could have blown in on the wind, or it could have come along with the sod. I would dig up a clump that shows both parts, and bring it to a good garden center(Not some jackass at home depot) and get it looked at.

On my lawn I have several patches like that. If it consistently grows longer there, then it's not dog piss. I always thought it was called crab grass, it's just a different type of grass that has thicker blades and grows faster. It's kind of annoying, almost like a weed. After the grass is freshly cut it's almost unnoticeable, though...
This reminds me, I need to cut my grass :p

It appears to me to be Crab Grass!! If you don't watch it, that little bit of grass will take over the rest of your back lawn. Unfortunately I'am unaware of a remedy to this situation, perhaps a Google will help you my friend!
When I was growing up in the 80s we had a pretty bad invasion of grab grass in our front lawn in Long Beach. THe old bastard next door planted it, crab grass, on his lawn and didn't seem to think, or care, about the lawn the people owned that was next to it; the people being my family. So after several years our left half of the lawn was completely crab grass. We had this middle patch of lawn that wasn't connected to it, the grass stayed the same oringal kind without getting invaded by this devil crab grass.
Eradicate this devil!!!!!..!

it doesn't look that unattractive to me as far as grass goes, so what would be wrong with it taking over the entire yard except for maybe having to mow more often......the real pain would be the transition stage when it's like half and half, that would look like shit.
