  • 1960:  New England Journal Of Medicine publishes article titled “Experimental Psychiatry. V. Psilocybine, A New Psychotogenic Drug”

Quote:
The authors give a short report of the pharmacology and mental effects of Psilocybin. . 4 male volunteers were given from 5 to 10 mg. Psilocybin sublingually. For 1 it was the first experience, while the other 3 had taken psychotropic drugs in previous experiments. The first effects began 30 to 60 minutes after the administration of the drug and lasted about 3 to 6 hours. The pre-experimental state was reached again after about 16 hours. . Mental and behavior changes: all 4 subjects showed increased irritability and changes in mood, but were oriented as to time, space and person. One had illusions of geometric patterns, 2 subjects were sleepy, the 2 others quite active. The speech was slow and at times slurred or even rapid and the thought process logical but slowed down. One subject was able to write a short essay with logical sequence association. Concentration and attention were significantly disturbed and perception only moderately disturbed. Time perception was disturbed in only one subject and depersonalization occurred in one subject. . Somatic symptoms: 1 subject had maximally dilated pupils, other somatic symptoms were light-headedness, nausea, photosensitivity and weakness in the leg. . All 4 subjects had difficulty in performing psychological tests. . Comment: The authors conclude that Psilocybin is an active chemical with psychotropic effects (5000- 10000mcg.). No true hallucinations occurred in his experiments but many factors do materially influence the course and outcome of such experiments (e.g. personality of observer, light and climatic conditions, purity of the product, emotional state and expectancy of the subject before administraiton of the drug).

Summary

Tim Scully is best known in the psychedelic underground for his work in the production of LSD from 1966 to 1969, for which he was indicted in 1973 and convicted in 1974. His best known product, dubbed "Orange Sunshine", was considered the standard for quality LSD in 1969. Scully worked with Owsley Stanley and Nick Sand in the late 1960s. During his LSD manufacturing career, Scully worked in four labs (documented in his 1973 trial):

    * With Bear (Owsley) in a Pt. Richmond, CA lab in 1966, as his apprentice
    * With Bear in a first Denver lab (set up by Scully) in 1967
    * On his own in a second Denver lab in 1968
    * In a Windsor, CA lab, which he set up in 1969 (where Orange Sunshine was made and where Nick Sand learned the process)

Scully had his work "busted" twice — once in 1969 for the 1968 Denver lab (the search was eventually ruled illegal in 1972) and once in 1973 for the 1969 Windsor lab conspiracy (which resulted in a 20 year sentence). Scully spent his time in prison helping with computers and improving communications for disabled prisoners.

His entire life, Tim Scully has been interested in cutting edge technology and computers. As a teen in 1958, he earned an honorable mention at a San Francisco Bay Area science fair for designing and building a small computer. He later received recognition for building a small linear accelerator pictured in a 1961 edition of the Oakland Tribune. He was trying to make gold atoms from mercury.

Scully has been a pilot much of his adult life and has worked in biofeedback and interface systems for people with disabilities. He has published eight articles on the topic of biofeedback and as many on technical computer topics. He retired from his years of work with Autodesk in 2005 and is currently researching a book on the underground history of LSD.

Yeah, that really made fucking sense to put that hardened criminal behind bars for 20 years.  WTF?  The guy seems like he's done more good than any politician or group of politicians have during the same time!

He's a saint and he is a hero.  He only ended up doing 6 years.  But that's because he was a model prisoner, even earning "Man Of The Year" honors by something called the Washington State Jaycees.  He invented a device that helped cerebal palsy victims communicate and conducted drug lectures, etc.

No way that guy made only 800k in one year when his lab was found with over 33 million doses. He's probably got some cash buried in a treasure box somewhere waiting for his 10 years lol

Reminds me of that guy who ran that underground LSD lab with some thottie stripper/escort and ended up torturing her side piece by tying him up and constantly pumping him up with IV LSD.

Some people are crazy.

hahahhahahaha

"Agents assume that 18 or so people in connection were California residents..."

sounds about right.  LSD made in Oregon or Washington or BC, then spreads to California, then across the USA.  good ol' west coast!
