Re: Fresh Cubies from Na Muang Rice Paddie [Re: 2Experimental]

My work in Thailand and cambodia is completely ligitimate.

and buffalo roam freely anywhere, although some are tied down and moved from location to location. Also many fields of rice paddies have regular cattle tenders and rice planters who also hand mow many squares for taking grasses to other locations for feeding cattle. However I am really not going to get into the habitats of southeast Asia.

aww why not! how else am I supposed to learn of places like that without first hand experience? I could never read what you could tell me here in a book....

you seem to find alot of mushrooms over there..are they THAT common or do you just know the hot spots? if they are very very common, does the local populace partake in the shroom ritual if ya know what I mean? or are even THEY looked down on by 'society'

60,000,000 buffalo make for quite a lot of shrooms.

Go to India where there are 500,000,000 cows and gaurs and buffalo, that is one bigger pasture. ALl of ASia is a giant pasture.

Go read the published papers on Thailand shrooms at my website and then you will know some of what I know.

Problem here is that everyone does not read the faqs but asks questions and never hears the answers.

my site is posted at the end of this message.

AS for finding shrooms. I have picked all over the wrorld. if you know a habitat then you can find any shroom anywhere.

And that takes ten to twenty years to began to undersatand a habitat.

Read my published papers and learn what I learned.

That should save you the cost of going to school to learn.

Or you could take Mark D. MErlin's Biology 440 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Psychoactive Drug Plants. One of dozens of such courses taught at many Universities around the USA or in Europe./

Join your local mycologial society. usually twenty a year. If yu co an afford to buy an 1/8 of shrooms or a gram of budd, then you could certainly afford to join a local shroom club.

Nothing in this world is i entirely free.

Mjshroomer, a question ive meant to ask you for a while now with your rice paddy walks throughout Asia, hope this isn't too alarming of a question but

In Cambodia, and Vietnam ect., what is the risk-factor of accidently stepping on a old land mine that could possibly still be active..?

thats a big issue in other countries.. especially cambodia, vietnam, and laos.. as well as countries during ww2.. there are supposedly about 15,000 land mines that are active wordwide.. from what i remember hearing on a docu on the history channel. meaning theres a great risk of stepping on one in a rice paddy. watch your step mjshroomer!

Respect in real life is quiet different to respect to elders on the internet.

These are internet forums, and while there is a certain level of professionalism among some members, I doubt that it's to the degree of being restricted to calling someone a certain name.

"The name is mjshroomer.

not MJShroomer.

Seems to b me a certain other person here at this site has used the same three capital letters as you just did.

Coincident?"

It must be. If you are implying something, please state what you are implying.

"Does Hawkey the spore vendor know you are using his name with a number 2 atached tot he end of it?"

First of all, my name is Hawkeye2, not Hawkey2. Second of all, the name Hawkey isn't his name.

MJShroomer, I respect your work and your contributions to the site, but to me, those who are truly veteran don't demand respect and limit what others can call them. In my opinion, that is arrogant and egotistical. You are obviously one of the most invaluable posters on this website, what people call you should not bother you because you know that you are on a higher level than them. That goes without stating. When one has to state that they are on a higher level an others (for example, how it is demanded that I give you respect), it just seems arrogant and boastful.

I, and ShroomieOfDoomie, both respect you, but we reserve our rights to call you whatever name we would like.

Also, Gumby, you can't apply the way respect works in real life to the way respect works on the internet. Real life is not the internet.

Hawkeye2 and ShroomieOfDoomie, I understand why you are a little upset, but at the same time, I think that you should (not must) respect someone's privacy of their identity. Due to the nature of this site, if someone doesn't want their real name plastered everywhere, then maybe you shouldn't do it.
mjshroomer is a very respected member of the community, and deservedly so. He has made more contributions to this site than most anyone would ever hope to. I know that when I ask for an ID, I am never really comfortable until mj voices his opinion.
He may come off as being arrogant to you, but he did ask you not to use his real name, and you keep doing so. I think I'd have a few harsh words as well.
And, mj, please do not take offense to this. A lot of people, even before they even visit this site, know who you are. You are a legend after all. I had heard your name through friends years before I visited The Shroomery, I did not however, know your screen name. I firgured that out through posts. As a matter of fact, if you Google "Magic Mushrooms + Expert", your name appears within the first 2 pages. Just an example as to your popularity.
Anyway, keep up the quality info and pics! and be safe. :sun:

very true, it is very obvious to who you are; anybody with a bit of common sense is be able to figure out who you are by reading just a few of your posts. You must realize that you do give links to YOUR website on this forum often. What is your deal dude. No disrespect but sir, you know your reputation, you know you are respected (in your work), so why demean other members and act with no respect towards them? You demand respect but you cannot give it, that's not how it works. Don't be pissed off, just tryin' to open your eyes. Make yourself better than you really are.

P.S. i really like your site. Thanx MjShroomer

Where the H did you get that figure. There are over three million unexploded land mines in cambodia alone.

Charnces are mor would be injured frm unexploded mortal shells, although in Xiem Riap, the majority of those surroundig Angkor Wat have been remved. I only go where cattle and buffalo are common and usually hose are already exploded. A fw years ago we stopped a car to ake a leak and there was a tree with about thirty unexploded shells lined up around the tree. Most found by children or adults who place them thus to warn everyone o beware the area they are pointed at.

mj

And I have seen some exploded when I paid some soldiers to take me across the border one time.

They blew two of them up n a mne field.

And no I am not afraid. If i blow I probably would not feel or known it.

I did a few years ago stick my toe itno a Corba hole and got two small bites. Blew my toe up to a lemon size for a few months.

mj

And In North Viet-Nam, i land mies are more scarce. IT as Cambodia witht he most in southeast Asia.

Shit, it would be like a building falling on yuo like 9-11.

Firt off, I meant Hawkeye, not Hawkeyand I think you know that was what I meant.

Second, you still referred to me above as
Quote:
MJShroomer

when it is mjshroomer.

My name is not now, and never has been, MJShroomer.

And another noticible point I want to bring up:

Quote:
I, and ShroomieOfDoomie, both respect you, but we reserve our rights to call you whatever name we would like.

So you also speak for ShroomieofDoomie. Well semms to me you are either one and the same or his sock puppet, or both.
Why else would you defend someone who constanly provideds misinformation?

And while you also mentioned that both you and Shroomie of Doomie respect me, one wonders why someone like you with only nine posts would be a friend of someone who has constanly supplied both bad, as well as, much misinformation on this site. It impresses no one and brings to the question of your alledged support of even mentioning his name along with yours.

And no, I am not arrogant, but when I say my name is mjshroomer and you continue to write MJShroomer, then it is you who have a problem.

he was admiting it was his problem, but that it seemed egotystical of you to point it out and get annoyed at it.. this is the internet and people can say whatever they want, no reason to get worked up over anything here... who cares.. what is pride or privacy anyways? nothing

awww, share the love an pass the shrooms people.

mj, I have read through your site in awe many of times. The information you have collected is amaing. I often talk to my friends about "the shroomer who has hunted in cambodia and thailand." I learned how better it is to be safe than sorry and learn to id mushrooms and not just eat whateverthefuck is handed to you.

I've read through this whole post and I'm "forced" (*cough*) to say that I find it ridiculous. mj, my little 4 year old brother could come up with your first and last name blindfolded. Don't act like you're a low key person. Everyone knows who you are on here (seems like your egos aware of it), if authorities wanted your name I'm sure they wouldn't have much trouble finding it, or your residence for that matter. (*gasp*) Demanding John Doe call you by your correctly capitalized handle or as Mr. Allen really comes across rudely. Maybe if you called yourself Reverend Allen you could throw the authorities off and get tax exemption. I mean c'mon, how many guys named John are there? That's a generic name. Wouldn't revealing your surname be more dangerous? Then again, this is the Shroomery. Hah.

Great finds mj.

Everyone else, cut the shit. Call the man by what he wants to be called, or dont call him anything at all. Its a common courtesy that we can extend into this "internet life" from "real life".

There should be no if, ands or buts about it.
