CD Burning
    #2811468 -

I just got the new Velvet Revolver CD and I have been trying to burn it for my son, I have tried CD-RW and CD-R, and when I play it, it's all jumbled and skips. I am using nero burn.

Any suggestions on diff software, or what to do? Is this a new thing they are putting on cd's to keep them unburnable?

Any help much appreciated.

I just read in the last couple days that there is some new copy protection on that specific CD.

Wait a few days (hours?) and someone will have a fix.

Edit: try here.

Since I ran this cd on my computer, now there is a cd checker that shows on my mouse, so as the link shows, the cd has installed software on my computer. This is bullshit, I may never buy another cd again if this keeps up.

Ok, here is what I did, and it worked.

Start with a Windows 2000/XP system with empty CD drives.

Click the Start button and select Control Panel from the Start Menu.
Double-click on the System control panel icon.
Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
Configure Device Manager by clicking "Show hidden devices" and "Devices by connection," both from the View menu.
Insert the Velvet Revolver (my edit) CD into the computer and allow the SunnComm software to start. If MediaMax has never been started before on the same computer, the SbcpHid driver should appear on the list for the first time. However, on some systems Windows needs to be rebooted before the driver becomes visible.
At this point you can attempt to copy tracks from the CD with applications like MusicMatch Jukebox or Windows Media Player. Copies made while the driver is active will sound badly garbled, as in this 9-second clip [10].

Next, follow these additional steps to disable MediaMax:

Select the SbcpHid driver from the Device Manager list and click "Properties" from the Action Menu.
Click the Driver tab and click the Stop button to disable the driver.
Set the Startup Type to "Disabled" using the dropdown list.

With the driver stopped, you can verify that the same applications copy every track successfully. Setting the Startup Type to disabled prevents MediaMax from restarting when the computer is rebooted. It will remain deactivated until LaunchCD.exe is allowed to run again.

Thanks again Luv

or get a cd-ripping program (audiocatalyst) where you can select which method you want to use to rip.. don't choose ASPI - choose MSCDEX or ANALOG (which basically means the program will take just as long to rip the cd as if you were to play it outloud.. (if there is a copy protection on it) this is my best advice..

or else go check out the newsgroups - its been posted up there for the last couple weeks..

I refuse to purchase RIAA music, so I'm not having problems - just a thing I heard.

Use ClonyXXL to find out which protection the disc has, and then Alcohol 120% to copy it.

Dont support the record companys by giving them money for CD's get a real good fire wall like proto wall or peer gaurdian so they cant sue you and steal it using bittorent or something. every time you buy a CD you are really just funding george w bush

Or you could just hold shift while putting the disc in. That stops the autoinstaller from installing the software on your computer, that usually installs without your concent. In other words, these people are running code on your computer without your permission....that's a felony. But who's going to prosecute a record company? If someone did...I doubt they would get into trouble...not in this day and age.

But hey, you guys can endure the other procedures.
