Question about preserving my mushrooms

I found a great haul of cubes a few days ago and dried them on newspaper over night. What's the best way to preserve them from this point? Is there any sort of container that's preferred for keeping them in good shape? Hoping to make them last at least a week or two in case we don't get any decent rain. Thanks for your help!

Just fan dry them and use dessicant to finish the drying process

if you are only looking to keep them a week or two, you should be with them air dried. don't keep them in an air tight container.
in the future you may want to dry them next to a fan, either strung up or laying on some kind of mesh or screen to increase circulation of air. ir there are any big specimens, i recomend slicing them thinly enough to facilitate drying within 48 hours.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

damp rip is key:


get a tupperware container, put damprid in bottom, cover damp rid with a paper towel, put mushrooms on towel, cover and dont open unless you need too.. should be dry in 24 hours that way CRACKER dry(not whittie, nabisco!)

yes, damprid, but stand the mushrooms off the towel. If the paper towel absorbs the greasy moisture from the dessicant, it goes straight into the mushrooms and ruins them. (Leave the lid cracked a bit too. Speeds up the drying if a little air circulation is going.)

Just a couple of weeks though, I would air dry them and pop them into the fridge.
