Is there an antivaxxer that isn't a nutter? It's fair to say that vaccines are not completely harmless in all cases, but the benefits from the covid vaccine outweigh the harm in a large population, and it's very crazy to disagree with that when there is clear data to strongly support the claim.

I mean I'm sure there's a few people who have suffered genuine injuries from vaccines who had previously been fully in support of them and have now become outwardly skeptical. It would really suck to have some kind of irreversible damage occur as a result of an attempt to prevent a disease, so although it doesn't happen often when it does happen it gets a lot of attention

By your first statement I think you just outed yourself as a nutter lol in some sort of Freudian slip way.

I agree with your second statement though I wouldn't use the word disingenuous which is incorrectly used. I would simply put it as not appropriate to lump all antivaxers together.

I personally know of 1 person who got a vaccine injury and he is still pro-vaccine, he simply accepted that he was one of the very few and unfortunate people who got an adverse reaction. He didn't even bother to try to get compensation from the vaccine injury and when I asked him why he said that he's better now.

i do not deny being an eccentric person!

as a young woman i recieved the hpv vaccine.  it was a brand new vaccine at the time.  in the doctors office, moments after the injection took place, i had a seizure and lost consciousness.  i had never had a seizure before. 

my seizures have never gone away, and i have a whole host of neurological issues.  my story is common to many young women who had the hpv vaccine.

certainly any one who has dealt with something like this would become very weary of modern pharmacology.  health is priceless.  yet humans trash it when they adhere to the conventional wisdom that modern science and biomedicine hold the only salvation to mitigate a human health disaster.

Because of your experience with the HPV vaccine it makes sense that you are against vaccines in general. As they say, once bitten twice shy.

I can sympathise with your stance against vaccines but keep in mind that the sort of adverse reaction you reported on is very rare. For the HPV vaccine, seizures and losing consciousness occur at a rate of less than 0.008%. In other words, for every 100,000 doses given out there are slightly less than 8 cases of fainting and around 3 cases of seizures.

To put this in perspective, peanut allergy occurs at a rate of around 0.6% (600 out of 100,000 people) in the general population and can be as high as 3% (3000 out of 100,000) among children.

In other words, peanut allergy is 100 times more common than the rate of seizures/fainting from the HPV vaccine. Does this warrant peanuts being banned, or labelled as a poison, or worst still, mischaracterised as some sort of bioweapon engineered to kill children?

Statistics can be cold and so far removed from the human stories such as the one you shared with us. And it is unfortunate that when it comes to epidemiology and health care in general the cold hard numbers are what researchers look at and what governments take heed of in formulating public health policy.

My arteries are probably fine I just meant I had chest pain about 3 hours after taking the shot, it lasted from about 6pm till I went to bed, I was fine the next day

It isn't normal to have angina unless you have coronary artery disease. You can have chest pain that isn't ACS though. Plenty of lung related reasons

Myocarditis can be be one etiological contributor Acute Coronary Syndrome, which is just an umbrella labels for symptoms of chest pain ranging all the way up to myocardial infarction. But it is not likely to cause significant ACS on its own without coronary artery disease and hypertension also contributing

Speaking of Myocarditis, can it cause leaks from the heart into the rest of the body?  I had a friend who claimed he went to the hospital for "fluid" leaking out of his heart and he said he has Myocarditis.  I couldn't find anything online saying Myocarditis causes leaks... is my friend full of shit or no?
