I use Mozilla Firefox. www.mozilla.org and get FireFox 0.8. It's a lot better than IE.

Run Adaware www.lavasoftusa.com.

What is the exact error message you get when you hit START?

make sure the icons on your start menu actually point to the correct .exe (rightclick>properties>target)

yeah, stop using that IE nonsense - firefox is where it's at.

Get rid of the crappy new start menu view.

Right click start menu -> properties -> classic view.

Much better without a giant stupid blob filling up a quarter of your screen.
