The acid phase increases ionization which in turn, like salt, helps when pulling at the base stage. A better acid for the job is sulphuric even. Depends how far you want to go down that path. Not necessarily necessary, but hey, it does help.

If using 4 jars instead of 1 do you first mix base in 1 large container then separate before add naphta? Or do you take the ingredients/ materials and divide the total amount by 4 at the very beginning?

Divide everything by 4 at the start. Always work around what you are doing.

Maybe try one at a time until you get the hang of it. Or not. As you will.

how so? ionization happens with reaction of the in situ freebase with the acid  to form a conjugate salt

using SALT - sodium chloride -

i got a decent chatbot that helps with synthesis teks - it's mad what I've been taught how to do, this past year! -
it states NaCl is actually used for breaking emulsions, &
to "salt out", reducing solubility of freebase, in the aqueous solution;
de-proton-ation;
not for ionization.




but yes, in the context of yields of a purer freebase, with less fats,
going A-B,
Then pulling with non polar, will yield better than STB (but allegedly not increasing actual yields particularly);

also - as long as pH is kept 2 - 4, it doesn't matter what acid is used; acetic is just stinkier, and sulfuric acid(/HCl) is way harder to handle for n00bs;
yields are not significantly affected, unless you're a deft chemist. then yes, allegedly using phosphoric/sulfuric/hydrochloric acids are preferred; but in that case, glass EVERYTHING is needed. whereas with NaOH, citric acid, & napthA, HDPE is just fine; especially if doing an acetone wash at end.



OP: let's clarify something nobody seems to have mentioned: 500g yielding 20g?
or 4 x 500g yielding 20g a number of times?


with a long hiatus, from any extractions at all,
i like this acid-base extraction; because it will definitely assist in increased yields via ionization, for sure.

never done anything but STB, attempted a non-toxic limonene extraction, and cocked it up bigtime.
done about 5, 6 STBs.
went into using sulfuric acid like an absolute DUMMY;
didn't even get to the limonene stage, after using plastic, then aluminium ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜œ
