I mean if we cared about small business we would have shut them down and paid them to stay closed. Problem solved.

also that. and paid people to stay at home like other countries were doing, instead of dragging our feet with stimulus bills. instead the only "stimulated" recipients were the wealthiest individuals and corporations, who actually gained more wealth during this crisis.

OK, here is a vid that explains things well. 22 bucks an hour and a year paid leave etc... at a fucking Mcdonalds!!! WTAF?! They can certainly do that here. Why should a "menial" job be looked down on? Why should ANY job be looked down on? I can tell you why....

Is a comfort with that.  Year anniversary of covid.  Glad the Dems won or you would be fucked.  I won't get it, but will get the 1,400.  Works for me.  On with life, biding my time.

Min. wage they are saying will be up to the States mostly and Feds might raise it a couple of dollars to 9.75.  Fine by me.

Read enough about it that Mom and Pop's can't pay a 16 year old hostess for example 15 an hour and their head chef makes around that.  To make it a Federal is dumb and Biden admitted that it is not going to part of that 1.9 trillion bill which I am fine with.

I voted for him and really, no but still the 7.25 is a joke.  I don't care what age one is an hour of your time for that I wouldn't do it.

Is so easy to see what the government does if one does enough research on it here in the States.  Some get it, others don't.  God bless America.

I mean when you have to bus people in just to serve the middle class and upper class is globalism.  Is simple.  Like their is much of a middle class anymore.  Those times are coming to an end.

7.25 is fine in fly over states, on the coast that's tax money.

7.25 is might as well just burn it and give a quarter to a homeless person.  Why one waits for College.  And some places even give a free meal of shit food!  It is called benefits!

And yes I get migrants and half-way home people and homeless people.  Been around them before.  I get the system.  What can I say?  Most will give at least 8.  One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.  Blah.

Imagine all of those so called "shift managers" suddenly having every cook underneath them- making more.

It's going to cause HUGE social unrest in the poverty level of job things- and Biden knows America is already on edge- as far as society goes.

So --smart play on his behalf.

But it's coming soon. - So all of you "corrupt" employers paying people Min. wage just because you can- I can't wait until you go out of business.

Just a heads up the people already that sinister are going to replace the people they already don't want to pay with machines and make more profit off of not paying anyone.

The real question nobody answers is how is the cost of living going to be kept in check and prevent the need for endless min wage raising, inflation, etc.?

Everyone only focuses on one side of the equation BECAUSE FUCK GREED, which is not an answer, folks.

I'm not against raising min wage I'm against people's absolutely asinine arguments FOR it while ignoring the factors that led directly to this fucking problem in the first place, and acting like they won't have an impact anymore once wages are raised.

"We can just print more money!" is not an answer that solves the problem.

"People are greedy" is not an answer that solves that problem.

i mean, inflation happens for a ton of different reasons, not just due to "money printer go whirrrzzz lul!". governments try to use various tools, such as adjusting interest rates, to try and prevent inflation from occurring by influencing the market via encouraging businesses to invest more of their stored up capital (or less), but it's really only so much you can do. especially right now, with interest rates at pretty much rock bottom.

regardless, cost of living goes up regardless of minimum wage. the economy grows by around 2-3% a year, ideally. cost of living is naturally going to go up over time as the economy grows and the market, being a living thing, also changes. maybe in the far future it will go down if the population also shrinks, but deflation is often not a fun thing for an economy. it's... usually a very un...fun thing. considering our rate of population growth in the US, however, unless we start opening up to immigration soon, we're probably going to see deflation in some decades due to an aging population, similar to Japan. hopefully we won't be so closeminded about foreigners as they are. (who am i kidding, there's no way we'll adapt an open borders policy to save ourselves, conservatives would declare a second civil war.)

The federal government shouldn’t have any day in how much any individual makes in income.
To increase the minimum wage by $15 would cause mass inflation and price increases on basic services.

It amazes me how politicians like Bernie Sanders call for “Democratic Socialism” line “Sweden and Denmark” but then he doesn’t copy any of those policies.
None of the Nordic Countries have a minimum wage.
They are also Constitutional Monarchies with a Parliament and not socialist in any way shape or or forum and have been pulling back on their social services since the 80’s to save their economy for total collapse so I don’t think they have any clue how these countries operate.

and i'm not saying that minimum wage is the end all answer to corporate greed, because it's not. there is the issue of corporations replacing people with machines this time, and that's going to create new issues with lost jobs, that are not going to be replaced. considering how many lost jobs are at stake here - cashiers lost to self-check out stands, janitors lost to cleaning robots, secretaries lost to secretary robots, harvesters lost to farmer and harvester robots, attorneys lost to robot attorneys, and more - there's quite a huge amount of people who would be out of a job and no longer able to be reemployed.

granted, there'd be new jobs for repairing/building said robots, but that's hardly a 1 to 1 ratio. you'd only need 1 repair guy to service dozens if not hundreds of those buggers, replacing hundreds of jobs lost - and since those things work 24/7, each one of those represents multiple jobs lost. not to mention of course, a lot of assembly of such things is done by... robots. <_< yay for economy of scale!

so there's talk of universal basic income, often talked of being paid for by taxing the ultra wealthy (for instance, a extra x% tax on any income above 600,000 dollars or whatever a year.) then every american gets say, 1000$ a month (for instance), tax free and no strings attached, no work needed or anything, on top of any other things like food stamps or disability (because seriously, it's cheaper than the alternative of people starving to death and robbing places out of desperation or having their corpses stink up the place and having to clean it off the street. also, giving people ample support when needed means they're more likely to actually get back on their feet and get off welfare. cheaper in the long run.) the idea is to have a UBI that's high enough to live off of modestly, (assuming a future where there's not enough jobs for everyone to work) sort of what we're aiming for with minimum wage now - a living wage that's enough to pay the bills and have a some money to enjoy life left over, but not to go hog wild on. obviously 1000 a month isnt enough for that, but that was an example.

Kurzgesagt did a good (short) video explaining UBI here:

they have a lot of nice informational (short :tongue2: ) videos on various topics and are rather entertaining to watch. quite wonderfully done too.

they also have actual labor unions, whereas the US is pretty much almost nonexistent for most labor unions these days, at least in a lot of fields. definitely in the customer service and retail sector, where any attempt to unionize is immediately met with mass firings, negative propaganda, and worse. companies are constantly trying to weaken the ability for workers to unionize by weakening US labor laws as well.

Thank you for an actually taking the time to answer in your own words, and not just parrot political rhetoric-as-economic-fact.

Much appreciated!
