My mortgage is $1100 a month, and I live in the city. I can see downtown from my yard.

Mine is $600/mo and I live at least 20 minutes from anything other than one Dollar General and the dump.

It's great.

Lot's of tree coverage and 250 acre park across the street helps.

I grew up in the sticks, miles from the little bit of civilization that existed. I've come appreciate a grocery down the street and lots of places to bike to. Most of my coworkers live in the boonies, they all bitch about their hour commute. My commute is 3 minutes. That's nice too.

My rent is $800 a month plus electric which is usually around $100-$150, two bedroom apartment. In the city proper, about 10 minutes from downtown.

Similar situation to SITR, I've been here since 2009, my neighbours are paying around $1k.

I guarantee you that every business owner that ever attempted something like that got taken advantage of by doing so and if any of them weren't burned by it, they just happened to hire someone who has a good work ethic and would've worked that hard regardless of pay.  That's what being a man with a good work ethic is about

So, if someone who doesn't "work hard/harder" that makes them a fuck up and not worthy of anything more than the bare minimum/arbitrary amount that some groups(s) of people came up with who had advantages physically and mentally over others and set all this up to keep the advantageous in those positions and dangle the carrot for anyone that aspired to do anything other than have a "menial" job or"high school" job. Some people can not/do not/will not want to do some things needed to be "successful" and that's subjective really. Plus the media, news, and anything on TV, the net etc...seem to push the narrative that those "menial" jobs are insignificant too. *SIGH*

(30mg of gummies kicking in, I hope this makes sense, lol)

ugh...not quite what I was saying trex

Work THEN reward, not the other way around.  I don't know why anyone would it should be the other way around but it seems like that's how people tend to think

I never said work hard of you're a fuck up, but if you don't want to work hard (or smart) then what entitles someone to the rewards of someone more driven than themselves?

If people, as you said, can not/do not/will not want to do what it takes then that's their choice.  Bitching about the system when it's really someone's own lack of motivation and unwillingness to wait for delayed gratification holding them back, isn't helpful for anyone

I'm gambling on this solar stock ticker ASTI- they do solar in the arctic and stuff.

It's at .03 cents a share. It could be my ticket out of poverty level.

I only have 3000 shares, which is like 70-80 bucks worth. But it apparently might be big someday.

If poor people knew how easy it was to make a free stock trader account and put just $100 in they might get lucky. They might also loose it all.

Anyways. Carry on folks I'll join this arena soon.

I meant people who are mentally handicapped to some degree, people who have physical ailment either born with or from an accident, and just average joe type people who don't want a 3-5br 3ba house and 2 car garage and so on. They shouldn't be put down and treated like they're inferior to other people more driven and have more opportunities than others. Why can't a multi billion dollar a year operation pay people 20 bucks an hour to start? They still make billions! That point someone made about a skilled worker who went to college or a trade school and starts making the same as minimum wage is BS because eventually that entry level pay does turn into more as they grow with the company if that works out. Companies seem to be letting people go at 12, 15, 18 years right before they are to retire with a nice pension etc...but then again, who the fuck gets one of those now eh? The ones on top keep squeezing more and more instead of taking less, they will never take less. It goes against the very rules of the capitalistic corporatism society they've set up.

People with actual mental or physical deficiencies should get help to live a comfortable life.

Laziness, entitlement, and a propensity toward making poor life decisions that "handicaps" one's life don't count as handicaps though

Everyone would be better off if we could all take a realistic look at ourselves and play to our strengths and have realistic expectations for ourselves.

Why should someone born with a deficiency not be able to reasonably expect to earn a living wage?

Should we just go back to Sparta and throw all the handicapped babies over the cliff?

Maybe I'm catching the tone wrong but it sounds like you're saying that people with not perfect selves through no fault of their own should have crappy expectations just because of the condition they were born in.

Because that is the reality of it in many cases- and you said realistic expectations.

There's always going to be lazy and highly unmotivated people, but that's not really the discussion. We're talking about livable wages on the lowest part of the wage scale. The US shouldn't have millions of full-time workers living in poverty, that's not acceptable. Also, there's nothing wrong with bitching about our existing system when it doesn't work for the vast majority of the working population. The system works great for the 700 billionaires living in the US today.

Let's be real. Some deficiencies don't allow someone to provide for themselves.  I already said that some people should receive assistance

Actually, that is EXACTLY what we're talking about.  The most lazy and unmotivated people are generally going to end up being the lowest wage earners and this entire discussion is about the idea that those people need to be paid more.

No this is not entitlement. the only God damn people who truly deserve minimum wage are high schoolers. well guess what now high schoolers jobs are being taken by lower and middle class people because there are no other fucking jobs. if you pay me fucking minimum wage I'm not going to go above and beyond. There's no such thing as raises anymore so it's not like I'm going to get a fucking raise if I work harder. Back in the 90s you could have worked your way from a minimum wage employee to a manager within maybe a couple year or a few years. Of time but that doesn't happen anymore. Jobs are completely different and they will never be the same. Pay me fucking minimum wage and you will get the bear fucking minimum of work.

Wow- way to be the Misogyny pro-

And the fact that you took so long to break my post down to that just might confirm my initial suspicions about your tone.

You sounded like a supremist, and perhaps ignorant.
