Clovers
    #2700086 - 05/19/04 08:40 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Terrified to make a query post but have to because I really did search extensively to find nearly nothing (yes google...) though it be understandanble that on this subjuct there is little info. I have been trying wild foods with great constancy over the past two years but have yet to find any (workable) reipies for clover (seedheads or foilage) that go beyond boiling the greens. Has anyone had any experience with any soups perhaps they would share wioth me or and baked dishes- supposedly this is a very rich nutrient bundle and I'm as poor as the next poor man so this would be great if I knew anything abou it. I sure would appreciate any help! Thanks!

you've probably seen this page, which has a number of suggestions for what to put it in, though no specific recipies:
http://www.wildfoodcompany.com/pages/948407/

You could put particularly tender parts in salads, or add it to anything you'd add a sturdy leafy vegitable to, including soups, rice, pasta sauce.
As far as recipies, I don't see that you should need them. For example, to make soup, take stock & add vegitables and maybe grain or meat. Clover is a vegitable.

I'd also suggest dandilion greens as a similar common food - the leaves are only good raw when very young.

Thanks- no- somehow I hadn't seen that page.  Thanks for the info though anyway! Just wanted to know if anyone had any tested suggestions or exp. with them really, but I guess I'll have to be my own guinea pig! :crazy2:  Yes- I do like dandelions in salads or tea and I've used flowerheads in winemaking and that works quite well too. Oh well- time to go fuck with some clovers and a stockpot!
