after mycelium appears in mycobags, should i break the substrate up to make the mycelium spread better, or just leave it alone?

Mash the hell out of it. Really.

Mash it up good... the myc will seem to disapear if you do it right.

Tomorrow... you will see much more myc.

Mashing is the way to go with mycobags.
