Artists and their song
    #2618901 - 04/29/04 09:42 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

Ok let's play a little game.

We have to give out artists names and THE song that is representative of their work. I'll start with a few: It dosen't have to be their most popular song but the one you think that does represent them the best.

Prodigy - Smack my bitch up
Infected Mushroom - Virtual Voyage
The Doors - The End
Shpongle - And the day turned to night  ( This is based on opinion no harsh feelings:P )
Hallucinogen - LSD
Juno Reactor - Conga Fury
The orb = Little Fluffy Clouds
Bob Marley - I wanna love you
Cat Steven - Moon Shadow
Bjork - Joga
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Sublime - The wrong way
Vivaldi - The four seasons
Manu Chao - King of the Bongo
Beatles - Across the universe
Air - Sexy Boys
Asura - Code Eternity
Kraftwerk - Radioactivity

and finally to end the example:
Toto - Africa
Las Ketchup - Asereje

I wouldn't say Sexy Boy is indicative of Air's other work.

Here's some input from me:

The Pixies - Bone Machine
Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
The Cure - Love Song
Grateful Dead - Ripple
Led Zeppelin - The Lemon Song
Pearl Jam - I Got ID
Sonic Youth - Self Obsessed and Sexxee

I dunno, Prodigy had some phases, maybe cuz I'm biased to Jilted Generation, I'da picked Poison or Voodoo People

My additions:
Dave Matthews (Band) - Rapunzel
Chemical Brothers - Sunshine Underground
Underworld - Born Slippy
Beethoven - 9th Symphony
Mozart - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
Debussy - Prelude to a Fawn
Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue
2Pac - You Can't See Me
Boards of Canada - Sunshine Recorder or Telephasic Workshop
Santana - Oye Como Va
Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Pinback - Offline PK
Sigur Ros - Svefn G Englar
The Roots - The Next Movement
Steve Vai - For The Love of God
Tool - Lateralus (arguably)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb or Wish You Were Here
Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty or Plush
Rolling Stones - Satisfaction or Gimme Shelter
Soundgarden - Loud Love or Day I Tried To Live

great thread! (though firestarter always was THE prodigy tune for me... not their best, but most... prodigal)

pink floyd - echoes (my favorite and it does cover more pf than most of their other songs, though not by far everything)
van morrison - bright side of the road (i really want to say cleaning windows, it's my second favorite song after echoes, but it's not THAT typical of van... but still quite)
beach boys - i get around
rhapsody - emerald sword
syd barret - dominoes (perhaps the sound is more complex than most of his songs, but to me, this one's got syd written all over it)

damn, this is hard... i can't keep from mentioning my favorites!

I agree with your picks for Shpongle and Juno Reactor

Sublime, however, I would say Santaria

Honestly I would choose Redemption Song as Bob Marley's definitive song. The Velvet Underground I would choose Heroin. Being a ridiculously huge fan of them, that song is in my opinion their definitive, because no other song in their repetoire can bring out such emotion in Lou Reed's voice, in live recordings and even in the studio.

Daedelus - Thus The Whirligig
Melancholy Gypsys - Mass Media
Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool
DJ Qbert - Cosmic assassins
Mel Gibson and the Pants - A Mannequin American

And the day turned to night was a justified choice.

Placebo - Pure Morning
Modest Mouse - 3rd Planet
Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles
The Cramps - Let's Get Fucked Up
Janis Joplin - Summertime
Guns 'n' Roses - November Rain

those are some of the bands i've been listening to recently. the songs don't best represent the bands necessarily, but are some of my favorites.
